Modern breezy apartment on stunning Arembepe beach, a turtle breeding area with natural quiet rock pools as well great surf, just 45 mins to heart of Salvador (20 mins to airport); Australian-Bahian couple hosts have 5 airbnb listings in Salvador
NOTE, FLEXIBILITY TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR DESIRED CHECK IN TIME DEPENDS ON PRIOR GUEST CHECK OUT TIMES - BUT WE WILL DO WHAT WE CAN TO CHECK YOU IN AS CLOSE TO THE TIME THAT YOU WANT
[once you book, we will email you a guidebook with info and maps, note comments about safety for children in condominium]
Note, this apartment is in Arembepe (Camaçarí Minicipality), just 20 mins from Salvador International airport and 45 minutes from heart of Salvador but not part of Salvador Municipality - it really does feel like a traditional fishing village.
The condominium in which the apartment is located is called Aldeia Saint Sebastian (just a few hundred meters down Piruí beach from the main town square with the church etc)
Your space is a fully-equipped and stylishly furnished beach apartment with 2 bedrooms, one downstairs and the other being an upstairs loft, 2 full bathrooms with showers, a living room and open kitchen, with a balcony from which you can see the moored fishing boats bobbing up and down in the foreground of the tropical, Atlantic Ocean horizon. There is air conditioning in one of the rooms but you are unlikely to need it given great cross-ventilation from the cool sea breeze. The condominium has 24 hour security with 2 guards and has wireless internet throughout (sometimes a bit patchy, but not bad, we don´t have control over it), including in the apartment. There is also a storage room in the apartment. Enjoy the sunrise view before you walk on down to the beach and take a quick stroll to the left to the Arembepe fishing village for a delicious breakfast at the local “padaria” bread shop Square (try the “açaí na tigela”, the typical tropical fruit Brazilian start to the day in a bowl) or pick up supplies at the supermarket on the village square to cook up a lazy brunch in the fully equipped kitchen at the apartment. Later on you should go back and buy the classic Bahian snack food acarajé, freshly cooked by the traditionally dressed Bahiana on the square, and you will LOVE the seafood restaurants for lunch or dinner (Coló, Tubarão and Mar Aberto and are gems, cascading down onto the beach), or the more informal “barzinhos” – typical corner bars where the locals relax for a beer at the end of a hard day on the high seas. 4 doors down from the apartment condominium is a great, relaxed restaurant option with outstanding food – Restaurante da Fazenda. Walk along the beach and stop by for a great lunch or dinner in rustic beach fazenda/farm-house setting.
If you walk to the right on the beach you have fully 50kms of palm fringed beaches right to Salvador. The coast is visited by 5 species of sea turtles that you will see surfacing year around if you swim out 20 meters or so into the sea and, during from October-March you can witness the nesting season and even the hatching of baby turtles, stumbling their way down the sand – unforgettable! You can see white markers indicating turtle egg laying sites along the beach, put down by Project Tamar which protects the turtles along the whole coastline of Brazil’s North East. Stop by the little rustic bars on the beach to refresh yourself with a cold “cerveja” (beer), “agua de coco” (coconut water in the shell) or caipirinha. Rock pools just near the condominium offer the opportunity for a quiet swim or a snorkel to see fish. The best beach break for surfing is about 10 minutes walk along the beach to the right with some of the best to be had anywhere on the coast around Salvador.
Zugang für Gäste
Guests have full and exclusive access to the apartment and the condominium common areas including huge double pool (with shallow and deep areas), open grassed area, car park (1 space is available for guests), club house with gym and of course … the condominium’s direct access on to a secluded part of Arembepe’s endless, stunning beach – Praia do Piruí.
Interaktion mit Gästen
Limited face-to-face interaction owing to the fact that we live in Salvador’s old town Pelourinho and have 2 small children. However, we will call you at the apartment at or soon after check in to answer any questions and provide any extra tips you need.
•THE COMMON AREAS OF THE CONDOMINIO ARE NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN TO PLAY WITHOUT CONSTANT ADULT SUPERVISION – THERE IS NO POOL FENCE, THERE IS NO LOCK ON THE GATE LEADING OUT ONTO THE BEACH AND THERE IS NO FENCE AROUND THE CAR PARK.
•Note, late check in (ie. between 8pm and 7am) by prior agreement only
•The apartment has some child security measures but is not very suitable for young children (less than 5 years old). There are gates at top and bottom of internal stairs and on verandah but care is needed to ensure these gates are closed at all times. The kitchen is not isolated from the living room.
•The condominium prohibits the drying of clothes and towels in common areas so we have provided a drying rack for you to leave in the storage room upstairs
•No smoking inside the apartment or in the common areas
•Although I love pets, the apartment is not suitable for animals
•As in the whole of Brazil, NO solid waste can be flushed down the toilet (including toilet paper), pls use the rubbish bin provided. It is a horror story if the toilet blocks and we charge US$50 to unblock it
•Please do not take the towels provided to the beach or use them as bath mats (and be careful with makeup stains on the towels if possible) - we have had to throw out new towels a number of times. We haven´t charged guests for this until now so we appreciate your understanding
•Desfrute Salvador (enjoy Salvador)!

I'm from Sydney, Australia, and live in Salvador, Brazil, with my beautiful Bahian wife Angela Paula and our spirited Aussie-Brazilian kids Rafael and little sister Eva. A lawyer and economist by training, I left management consulting over ten years ago, joining a nonprofit organization working across Africa and Latin America, before meeting my wife and settling here in the city that is the perfect expression of African soul and Latin American rhythm, melded during centuries into the truly unique cultura baiana. We love offering free advice to all visitors so that you can enjoy the well-kept secrets of Salvador; eg. live jazz at sunset at the restored customs house overlooking Bahia de Todos os Santos, Salvador’s best ice cream on the old seafront at Ribeira, or watching the ‘gente bonita’ (beautiful people) and tackling a great surf break at a classic beach bar on the northside of the city, and – of course – all the best live music events and festivals for which the city is renowned. Seja bem-vindo!
