Der Wohnraum

Large, sunny room on the ground floor of a beautifully restored N. Portland farmhouse . The house is on 1/2 acre that is a Platinum certified Backyard Habitat and registered rain garden.
We are in the Overlook neighborhood, close to MAX; you can walk to the river, Adidas World Village, cool eateries, brewpubs, and the Mississippi Arts district. Be sure to ask about any bicycling, Blues, or beer events while you are here!
Portland BikeShare has rental bikes nearby as this is a great way to get around Portland, and I have secure bike storage if you've brought yours along.
Try some home roasted coffee, Greek yogurt with fruits from the garden, or grill on a salt block outside. Cooking is encouraged here!
Leela, a German Shepard, and Mzcora, a sweet indoor-outdoor kitty, live here also, and will welcome you. There is always something going on in the garden, and you are welcome to join in, or just hang out and enjoy a green, peaceful refuge in the city.

No smoking please.

Enjoy the common areas ( kitchen, dining, living room, garden ) and clean up after yourself.

Bathrooms and kitchen need to be clutter free; you will have a drawer and cupboard to keep personal items.

Please make yourself at home in the kitchen; there is a fridge, professional oven and fan, dishwasher, blender, pots and pans, spices, basic ingredients, and seasonal fruits from the garden for you.

Please leave a beautiful workspace for the next person- put rinsed, dirty dishes in dishwasher or wash by hand, keep counters clean and clear, sweep floor if necessary.

Group meals, sharing is always welcome- but you will also have your own space to store personal items.

Not everyone wants to share their food.

We compost and recycle-just ask!

Please turn off lights when you leave room.

Lock the door at night, or if you're the last one out.

Leela, the dog, can only go out on her leash; please don't leave the door open or she will escape.

Mzcora, the cat, goes in and out as she pleases through her cat door.

In winter, please remove muddy outside shoes and leave them in basket by the door.

FOR LONG TERM GUESTS (a month or more ):

These are single occupancy rooms. I want your friends ( and mine ) to feel welcome, but please check with the host.

Housekeeping services are not included. If for any reason you are not able to leave your space as found, and help maintain the common areas we can make another plan. This will likely involve you hiring a cleaner, or deciding to live at a place that has maid service.

Car parking is not included. There is secure on-site bike storage, and plenty of street parking for cars. The 2nd parking space is reserved for visitors, or for dropping off / picking up or for various garden projects like compost delivery.

TV is not one of the amenities provided, but there is a VCR / VHS player we all can share.

There will likely be other guests, live music, home brewing and home cooking, political activism, dogs, bicycles, coffee roasting, cartoonists, Bike Swarmers, and travelers coming through here.

Please consider choosing another place if you are:

Allergic to pets, plants .

Have strict food restrictions ( we are respectful omnivores ).

Not used to share houses or people from other countries ( I have a special interest in hosting international guests ).

A very light sleeper.
( I am a night person, and there are going to be people using the common areas, although it's generally quiet after 11 PM ).

Not able to clean up after yourself and leave common areas sparkling clean.

Außerdem musst du Folgendes beachten:
Dog(s) und cat(s) live in the house

Wonderful house and surroundings. Taizz was incredibly welcome and her house feels like an oasis after the bustle of the city. Highly recommended!

I stayed with Taizz a little over a month and I'm glad I did. I felt at home through out those weeks. Taizz does a great job of making sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. The place is exactly how she described it. The location is really good (literally 3 mins from Adidas), about a 10 min walk to the nearest bikeshare (unfortunately she no longer rents out bikes), and 8 minutes to the nearest eatery. Check out Old Gold, it's one of my favorite bars in the area. If you plan on staying long term in Portland and you're looking for a welcoming, eco-friendly place, this is it. Be sure you are respectful of the household rules and your stay will be wonderful. Thanks, Taizz for being a great host and now a friend.

Generally speaking, I enjoyed my stay with Taizz. She, Michael, and the other guests were quite friendly and polite. PROS: Rooms have a unique, Portland feel Taizz knows a ton about Portland Taizz is nice and vivacious Taizz attracts other nice guests There is no shortage of interesting restaurants and shops in the area Overall genuine taste of NE Portland CONS: Taizz was not shy to jump to conclusions and make accusations (that I had burnt spatulas which I had never used, etc) but I think our relationship gradually improved There were always mosquitoes in my bedroom and the bathroom once it got warm because people insisted on leaving the doors open I won't explore details, but Taizz was not afraid to escalate almost comically petty disputes Overall, as stated, the experience was good though there were minor blips amidst a generally nice, characteristically Portland, experience.
