Otways Loft was specifically bought, renovated and set up for holiday accommodation, the long awaited sister property to Liptrap Loft (National winner of Peoples Choice 2014 + Romance 2013 + state winner of Outdoor Lovers 2012).
It is not 5 star luxury, but we can say with confidence that it is unique. The builder lived in a shed using the train carriage as a workshop whist building the house. It is an eclectic construction built on a framework of tree poles in a triangular pattern. The interior is a mixture of train parts, local timber and salvaged materials. Every shingle over the house and train was hand cut from the forest. It was a labour of love.
Forrest is set in the hinterland behind the Great Ocean Road. It is a gorgeous small town of weatherboard shacks, surrounded by towering Mountain Ash rain-forest with lush ferny under-story. The dawn birdsong is deafening. There is a lot to do around Forrest even if you are not a mountain biker.
Spoil yourself and make it a long weekend. Take the Great Ocean Road home on Monday when there is no one around.
We scoured Victoria to find a property to match Liptrap Loft in unique character & charm. We think we have found it. There is still work to do, to get it to where we want it, but if you are not precious ;0) we think guests will enjoy the house and love Forrest.

-There is also a loft with a loft ladder and double futon. This is available as another bedroom for someone nimble. It is not suitable for elderly, but kids love it.
Pricing includes linen. Total - 6 single beds (two of which convert to King beds), 1 queen bed and one double futon.

The two properties can be rented together for larger groups. Together the properties can sleep up to 14 guests ( but ideal for a total of 10-12).

The owners are based an hour's drive from Forrest, so wont be seen during guests stay, but will be available via phone or email before during and after the stay to answer any questions.

Pets are welcome. There is a dog run around the balcony, but the fencing is not dog proof.
We expect guests to leave the place in a tidy state and put rubbish and recycling out on Station Street for pick up Monday morning.
Hi my name is Fleur. My husband Mike and I have a small flock of holiday houses and cabins, that we run as our management company Dufflebird.
We manage 9 Holiday Houses that are all within 2.5 hours of Melbourne. All places are different but they are similar in that they all have personality and they are all surrounded by nature.
3 of our 9 properties are more like cabins than houses.
3 of our properties belong to us, and the other 6 belong to friends (or friends of friends).
7 of the 9 properties are pet friendly (and 6 of those welcome well behaved inside dogs).
Some are rustic and eclectic & some are more contemporary and luxurious.
All places are close to beaches or waterfalls.
Each house is fitted out to feature its own individual character and all are completely self-contained. We have set them all up so that guests can feel like its their own private getaway, while in residence.
Its a commitment keeping each place well maintained and organised. a labour of love. We hope to appeal to like minded souls who are respectful to our properties, the neighbours (in places where there are neighbours) and the surrounding community.
