Our neighbour's village mutt Yoyo is a cutie and has a habit of chilling out with guests at the Hut! She loves the attention she usually gets from foreigners. If this is an issue however, please notify the caretaker Liujie upon arrival.

Lage

Peking, China

The area in which our hut is located is known as Jiankou or 箭扣 in Chinese. Although a lot less touristy than Mutianyu, this section of the Great Wall of China is gaining in popularity especially amongst avid hikers and Nature photographers due to its spectacular sceneries and "wild" (and therefore dangerous in parts!) cliff-top pathways and towers.

The village of Xizhazi 西栅子村 at the foot of it is very quiet, populated mostly by local elderly farmers! You will see them hanging out with their friends and village mutts during the non-harvesting months of the year, not doing much but chatting and watching passersby - throwback to rural Chinese rural life!

There is one tiny commerce that sells your very basic staples and some villagers grow their own chemical-free vegetables that they may (or may not!) be willing to sell to you depending on the harvest. There are a few local restaurants where you will be able to find your classic Beijing specialties and satisfy your hunger after a long hike along the Great Wall.
