Charming, sunny, classic NYC apt 5 minutes from Central Park. Near subways, buses, tasty local indie cafes/coffee shops, restaurants, and local cultural institutions. My neighborhood is a very special pocket of NY that has everything you need, and can launch you easily to major attractions.
Check out my lovely, Sunny 1 Bedroom on the TOP floor of a classic NYC prewar building, 5 minutes from Central Park, with beautiful views of a beautiful local park. Super convenient to the Upper West Side, and all the rest of the best of Manhattan, yet just removed enough from the urban bustle. I adore this location and think you will, too!
There is also now a full sized bed in the living room (photos with turquoise and pink bed coverlet).
IMPORTANT: In your query, please let me know how many people are in your traveling party, and tell me a bit about what brings you to NYC.
Great location from which to base yourself for general sightseeing, or business at either Columbia University location, City College, Manhattan School of Music, Teacher's College, Lincoln Center, and for proximity to the best city parks in Manhattan.
The private bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed, upgraded air-conditioning, high ceilings, charming prewar detailing, and your own garment rack on which to hang your clothes. An iron, ironing board, and hair dryer are provided as well.
Prewar details are woven throughout this corner unit apartment, and it's free of bugs, mice, and bedbugs (quite a big deal in NYC, as you may have heard).
The apartment is prewar, and this is NYC, so expect the quirks that go with apartments of this vintage, such as radiator heating.
WiFi, TV, and lots of books and magazines to browse.
Coffee and tea supplies will be on hand for you to enjoy.
Linens and towels are provided.
Building has an elevator (email hidden)-in super and my neighbors are super friendly, community-minded folks.
NEIGHBORHOOD AMENITIES: Quiet apartment is directly across the street from a local park, a 5 minute walk to Central Park, and you can easily bop over to Columbia University/Barnard College from here. There is one bike, so if you'd like to borrow it, just coordinate with me first :-)
Around the corner are several new restaurants/cafes/bars, including a beer garden, charming coffee shops, Levain Bakery (best cookies on the PLANET), Double Dutch Espresso, wine shops, sushi bar, and a brand new grocery store. A post office is around the corner, as are 2 laundry mats, a Dunkin Donuts, a health food store/juice bar, dry cleaners', nail salons, yoga studio, and several bodegas (the NYC version of a "convenience store.")
TRANSIT: Super close to transit: B, C Subway lines are right around the corner (3 minute walk). You also have easy access to A + D express trains, plus many buses to choose from (M(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)). There's a bus stop right outside the building. A 7-10 minute walk will get you to the 2 or 3 express trains, or to the 1 local train.
Via subway, you are:
10-15 minutes from Museum of Natural History
15-20 Minutes to Midtown/Rockefeller Center/Times Square/Museum of Modern Art
25-35 Minutes to downtown/Union Square. Financial District.
Museum Mile: You can WALK to Museum Mile, which features the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Guggenheim, and more. Or take the southbound M3 bus, and be there in about 20 minutes (depending on traffic).
PLEASE NOTE: The apartment is home to one shy cat, and one friendly cat so please keep that in mind, especially if you have allergies and/or a feline aversion. ;-)
TO MAKE YOUR STAY EASY + FUN: I'll hook you up with a subway map, guidebook, and ideas of things to do/places to go. Or help you get to where you're going easily and smoothly. I spend a lot of time on the subway/transit system, and know its quirks well. There will also be fresh linens and towels ready for you. You will find your stay to be relaxing and comfortable.
Please tell me a little about yourself, what brings you to NYC, what you'd like your stay to be like, if you are traveling alone or with another person, and anything else you can think of. If you have any questions for me, please let me know.
Please verify directly with me FIRST before booking.
If you are staying only one or two nights, I will remove the cleaning fee for you via a "special offer." Very simple, fast, and easy process.
Thanks so much!

Currently a New Yorker. I made my way here from Texas to attend Columbia U. and never left. From a young age, I've globe-hopped a lot. I absolutely dore travel and meeting interesting new people. Love to read, cook, laugh, watch movies (Almodovar films in particular), walk, bike, and stretch (body and mind). I love chocolate (dark) and kitties (purring).
As a guest, I'm quiet and usually not "home" much. As a host, I will point you in the right direction and give you some guidance. I'm generally very busy and highly respectful of my guests' privacy. I'll have plenty of tea on hand for you, but also encourage you to explore this energetic, powerful city of NY and create your own unique memories. Get out there and live!
