*** Please take the time to read the first paragraph below AND everything in the next section, titled "Guest Access". ***
There is a lot more information to read, if you so desire, and the answer to just about any question you could possibly have can be found in the sections below. If you don't like to read, you can always email questions directly to me, and I will answer within 24 hours.
This Two Bedroom, Two Bathroom Apartment with screened-in balcony on the top floor in a secure 5-story building is located on a lovely, quiet, tree-lined street with bike path that leads to a Nature Preserve at the east end of the street (see pictures) and Biscayne Bay. The Master bedroom/bathroom of apartment is occupied by host. Guests have the second room and guest bathroom to themselves, as well as access to living room, kitchen and balcony screened porch.
The Arch Creek East Nature Preserve at the end of the street is adjacent to, and leads into, the FIU (Florida International University) campus, where the trail meanders through green fields with palm trees, seagrape and other mature trees, with sculptures interlaced between campus buildings and the calm waters of Biscayne Bay. Beyond the campus is Oleta State Park, where kayaks, bicycles and paddleboards can be rented.
You can lounge by the pool here, or soak up the sun, play in the surf, and people-watch at any of the near-by beaches. Bay Harbor Islands and the closest beach is located 3 short miles away (less than a 10-minute ride by car). There you will find Bal Harbour Beach, which is located in the north part of Miami Beach.
Travel north another mile and reach Haulover Beach Regional Park with its crystal clear waters, tall swaying palm trees and a mile and a half stretch of nice sandy beach. There is a full- service marina, tennis courts, 9-hole family golf course, a sundries shop, concession trucks, a kite shop & a bark park all located within the Haulover Park.
Travel south, less than 10 miles from Bal Harbour to famous South Beach (or SoBe as the locals call it), the place to see and be seen, with so much to do there! Bike, roller blade, rent a Vespa or Segway...or just walk along the picturesque Deco Drive. Frolic in the azure waters; surf, boggie-board or body-surf the waves; Jetskis can be rented for fast rides on the ocean and wave-jumping. Rent a giant umbrella & beach lounge chairs or lay out a beach towel and be a sand lizard...basking in the warm sun (don't forget sunscreen on the tops of your feet and ears...places most forgotten, but most painful when sunburned!). Take a stroll along the popular outdoors Lincoln Mall, with tons of shops, restaurants and bars. A great place to sit with a cool drink and people-watch!
The NOMI EXPRESS is a free shuttle bus service that stops steps from the front of our building every hour. This biodiesel-fueled network of compact buses takes guest to surrounding places within the North Miami area. Within 4 miles there are a plethora of restaurants with every kind of cuisine (and less expensive than in the heart of South Beach): Flanigan's, Red Lobster, Chicken Kitchen (at the corner), Panera Bread (1 mile away with great variety menu), Alaska Roasting Company, Boston Market, Evios (great gyros), Steve's New York Style Pizza (Sit down restaurant with outside patio 1 mile away, open 'til 2am every night - 4 am on Fridays & Saturdays! They also deliver with minimum $10 order), IHOP (Open 24 hours), Cheviche Grill Peruvian, Asia Bay, P.F. Changs, Rice Siam Thai, Makoto Japanese, Houston's, Morton's The Steakhouse, Palm Restaurant- Home of the giant lobster and perfect martini (sister restaurant to Palm Restaurant in Beverly Hills, CA), Mario the Baker, The Olive Garden, TGIFridays, Pei Wei, Wongs Chinese, Chipotle Mexican, Rice House of Kabob, Biscayne Diner, and Denny’s…to name a few. There are also lots of fast food places (like Subway, Pollo Tropical, McDonalds, Wendy's, Jamba Juice, and Dunkin Donuts), peppered among some of the restaurants listed above, literally right around the corner. Also on the route are the FIU campus, Johnson & Wales University campus, Publix grocery store, Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Walgreens, Navarros & CVS drugstores, Ross Dress for Less stores, TJ Maxx, Target, Costco Wholesale Warehouse, and a Starbucks which is right at the corner of my street and Biscayne Blvd (the main North-South thoroughfare, also known as US1). Within the network of shuttles, you can also reach Aventura Mall for a “shop til you drop” experience, the AMC 12 (with IMAX) theatres and even more restaurants! Across the Broad Causeway, heading east, it is approximately three (3) miles to the beach at Bay Harbor Islands and the famously upscale and designer Bal Harbour Shops. South Beach is just over 10 miles away from the apartment (about a 25 minute drive, with traffic), which can also be reached by the Metro city bus system (which takes a lot longer). Miami-Dade Metro city bus service to all other areas of Miami, Miami Beach and beyond can be boarded at the corner of 135th and Biscayne Blvd.
The apartment is almost exactly 1/2 mile east of Biscayne Blvd, which can be reached by walking or taking the free shuttle. Both NOMI Express and the Miami-Dade city buses have bike racks for people to take their bicycles to the beach and elsewhere. I don't have any bicycles, but they can be rented both at Oleta State Park (5 miles away) and all over South Beach.
As there is so much to see and do all around South Florida, to get around without limitation I would STRONGLY suggest renting a car. However, you can reach any destination by bus (it just takes a lot longer to get where you're going). There's also UBER (Download the app and order a car to take you wherever you want to go. Prices run around $2.00/mile and they usually get here within 10 minutes). Same for LYFT.
There is train service for those who are interested in taking a trip up to Orlando, and points beyond, without having to drive. There is also an express charter bus that leaves from Miami Beach and goes non-stop to Orlando. There is free WiFi on the bus.
There are several paid shuttle services (which are less expensive than taxi), that go to and from the two local airports: Miami International Airport (MIA) to the south or Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport (FLL) to the north, and can be scheduled at any time of the day or night. Current prices are $20 per person for shared service. Host can make appointment with shuttle service for you - just email itinerary from airline. You pay on the bus if taking it from the apartment, or before boarding the bus if you take it from the airport.
The apartment is equi-distance from both airports, located about a 30 minute drive away (by car), either way. Late check-in is fine, just send a text or email if there is a delay in your flight, to assure I will be there to meet you.
NOTE: See specific pricing **RATES** and cleaning fees (based on length of stay) under "OTHER THINGS TO NOTE" section of EXTRA DETAILS below.

Two (2) bath towels, one (1) hand towel and two (2) wash cloths provided, for each stay. The bed will come with one (1) set of sheets, one (1) blanket, one (1) king and two (2) standard pillows (of various firmness) and a top comforter with matching shams (2) and bed-skirt (1). The king pillow is goose down, so please advise if allergic, so it can be stored elsewhere. There are two extra throws in the room, in case you get cold at night. Also available for use: large beach towel and folding beach chair.
I keep the apartment at 74 degrees during the day, whenever I'm home and 72 degrees at night for sleeping. I usually set the temperature on the thermostat to 78 degrees when I leave, to save a bit on electricity. I keep a blanket and extra throws in the room being rented, just in case 72 is a little cold for someone. For fresh air aficionados, I have no problem with them leaving the window in that room open to sleep At Night, as long as the a/c vent above the door is shut, and the door to the room is kept closed. The window in the room absolutely needs to be kept closed during the daytime hours, when it's a lot hotter. Otherwise, my electric bill will be astronomically high!
* Sorry-NO smoking, drugs, children or pets allowed.
* Please be considerate of owner by limiting noise after 11:00 pm during the workweek (Monday-Thursday nights)
* The Only items in the apartment that are to leave the premises (and be returned) are the beach towels and folding chairs. Any missing items will be charged a replacement charge out of the deposit AirBnB collects up front.

* There will be a replacement charge for any damaged (broken, chipped, torn, ripped, stained or bleached) item(s), including towels and/or bed linen.
Please email me through AirBnB with any questions you may have and Please include some information about yourself and your visit to Miami. Thanks! :-)
• Sorry-NO smoking, drugs, children or pets allowed.
• Neighbors are never to be disturbed by either loud noises or buzzing to be let in the building….you must Always use your key - each and every time.

Unfortunately, this is not a large house with plenty of room for entertaining. :-( If you plan to meet friends or family in the area, please arrange to hang out with them off-premises. My real estate career keeps me very busy, however whenever possible I would love to play tour guide, as I am a native Floridian (born in Miami Beach) and know this area - and many others throughout the state - like the back of my hand! I can tell you about great places to go and tons of fun things to do while here! Tell me what your interests are, and I'll give you useful information and point you in the right direction
Guest can choose either a small pot of coffee or a variety of teas in the morning. I usually have some sort of bread product - like bagel, croissant, or English Muffins for example - to share, as well as some sort of fruit to eat at breakfast in the apartment - Not to take away. Half & half or almond milk, honey, agave, stevia, raw sugar, butter and jams will also be available for guest use
I usually stay up somewhere between 11:00 pm and midnight, and wake up between 7:30 and 8:00 am. If you are an early riser, please let me know in advance. I will not be rising earlier but can put the coffee pot on a timed brew (if you drink coffee) and you are free to come and go (quietly please) as you please. I am very quiet at night so as not to disturb early risers
If you're staying for a week and you'd like a week's pass to L.A. Fitness, let me know in advance and I may be able to arrange that for you. While there is no charge for the pass, they do expect you to take a tour of the gym, where they will of course try to sell you a membership. However, there is no obligation to join
This neighborhood is perfect for jogging and there's even a boot camp exercise course on the FIU campus close...if you have interest. Of course, you're on vacation, so if you're here to relax and just (URL HIDDEN) worries...chill to your heart's content!
I always make myself available to chat over coffee or tea at some time during your stay, and love sharing insights about my hometown, while getting to know my guests
Hi there and Welcome!
I am a native Floridian (born in Miami Beach), who went to college in California and stayed for over 20 years, before returning back to Florida. Because half my family resides here, and the other half in California, I have been a bi-coastal resident all along...visiting once or twice a year for extended stays. As a Real Estate professional, it is part of my job of so many responsibilities to know the area - or as they say, "Know your market!". My business takes me to all corners of Miami-Dade County, and being an active, fun-loving person, I am in the know about on-going events and fun activities to give my guests plenty of interesting options to fill their stay!
For those of you into fitness, I can arrange yoga classes or passes to the L.A. Fitness gym, located 1 mile from the apartment. I used to be a personal trainer, and now practice yoga...with the goal of achieving my teacher's certificate.
As travel has always been my first love, I have visited many places all over the world, with many more to go! I lived in Colombia, South America, and went to school there for two years. Although we didn't speak Spanish in my home, I still understand most of what I hear today and can speak enough to get by. In Miami you will hear many languages besides Spanish (and like a vibrant and fun United Nations here. Besides Spanish, I personally know people who speak Portuguese, Italian, French, German, Russian, Turkish and Catalán, and invite people of all nationalities to book a stay in my apartment home! Welcome!! :-)
