Dear Deborah and Barry,
thanks a lot for your review. This is our first season like host and we are very happy when the guest give us suggestions or ideas... this help us to improve the service.
I'm a bit disappointed about your comments couse it could create confusion in people who read it: it seems you are criticizing, not the flat, not what we offer (written in our airbnb ad) but what you would like have or find.
I try to follow you way and answer... we will check the kitchen equipment, and if will be necessary add something else but I can't understand wich kind of utensils miss: there are lots of differents kind of pots, coffee machine, knives, forks, spoons, tea spoons, glasses anf dishes... fridge, frezeer and microvave and lot of others things.
You also always find paper towels, kitchen paper, 1 kitchen scourers, 2 tea towels, 1 new olive oil bottle, 1 new sea salt and 1 vinegar bottle, and sugar, coffee, etc...
We didn't consider that could be a problem turn on and off the Tv or the extractor hood or difficult find out, that some pots, needs the adaptor that was biside the induction hob... but ok, for the next season we will prepare a small video or brochure where will be explained every kind of machine can be found in the house (washing machine, tv, iron, fridge, microwave, etc…), couse is possible not everyone is use to: never take anything for granted!
About the welcome pack or advive, is not exactley what you said... on the small table in the entrance there was lots of depliants: time table, useful number, tourist proposals... maybe not enough or not completely but we are already working on a private website where the guests will find all the time table (ferry, train, bus, shuttle) or tourist information!
You are right in the mid/end October there are just few school buses running up and down, and if you don't have the car the solution is walk or take the taxi... but if you decide to walk, honestly is not so difficult to find the way (seems you are the only one got problem between our 33 couple of guest we had from april to november) and in any case, before walk for miles you could call me for an help...
The hours of the supermarket is not erratic: in summer they open every day from 7 to 20 and in winter they close Tue and Thu afternoon... you were just not lucky couse you arrived when they were close.
Of course is not huge mall (you are in a very small village), but you can find more or less everythings (bread, milk, rise, pasta, meat, fruit, vegetable, milk, cookis, water, wine, beer, cheese, souce... maybe they didn't keep waht you are used to eat for brekfast but in Italy the eating habits are different from England.
Was not holiday, also Bar Milano is open from 6 to Midnight every day except Thu. They serve good food and they are very very cheap.
About the lights: there are lots of lights in the apartament...maybe too much, in particulary on the bedroom table lamps (we will put one less strong...). Is true there are not side lights in the leaving room, but there is a wonderful standard light in the apartament. Normaly is located in the entrance but of course, you can move it and put it where you prefer or need it.
As I told at the beginning of my answer, thanks a lor for your review. We are working on your and others guest suggestions and idea for the next season.
I hope you will come back one day and check personally the improvements.
Was a big pleasuere have you like guest: always welcome at Casa Valeria.
