Our apartment is without exaggeration one of the most beautiful and interesting villas in Old San Juan.
Old San Juan is the oldest settlement within Puerto Rico and is its major historic colonial section. It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1972 and then declared a National Historic Landmark District in March 2013.
We have a 1700 sq. ft., 3 bedroom, 2 full bath, Spanish villa with a charming indoor patio, a rare private outdoor swimming pool and garden. Upon entering there is a modern Japanese style bridge, crossing over a reflecting pool, 14 foot ceilings and large arched doorways.
The first floor has a living room area with marble floors serviced by a large screen tv, sofa and love seat, a guest bedroom (queen size), kitchen with electric stove island with a red brick arched architectural feature, oven and full size fridge. The dining room has a stone table with seating for 6. As you continue along the shallow side of the pool (great for kids) there are washer and dryer (free of charge) up just a few stairs is a large bathroom with an open air shower fabricated with pebble stones. The spiral staircase leads to the second floor there are two bedrooms (both queen size), a master overlooking the pool with tv and ample closet space, a guest bedroom with an indoor balcony and there is a bathroom that serves both with 2 sinks, marble counters, bidet and shower/tub (2 door access). The entire villa is serviced by a/c, ceiling fans and wifi.
Approximately 200 years old, the property is a step back in time. It was originally rebuilt from almost ruin by the Cuban Architect Evelio Pina in the 1960's however again the property fell into abandonment. It has now been completely renovated and has modern interior decor using warm Caribbean colors. The movie "Undercurrent" starring Lorenzo Lamas and Frank Vincent (Goodfellas, Casino, Raging Bull) was filmed there in 1999. In October 2012, SONY Corporation selected the property as one of four properties in Puerto Rico to shoot their advertising campaign for their new High Definition Televisions.
The property is great for events or perhaps just a family/friend reunion. We also have an abutting 1 bedroom, 700 sq. ft. apartment with a private entrance that can be rented in addition if you need more space.
