Early retired couple with the children all just about left the nest. last one, Alex is now on his last year for his Masters then hopefully moving on to take his Doctorate in Mathematics, then some serious down sizing.
Since Joining Airbnb we now live out our Summers in the Auvergne France, in a department lost in time, yes we have Wifi, pronounced Wee Fee, but not much else has changed and wood fires abound in lovely old stone buildings which all have a personal well.
Struggling as you do each day with trying to learn a little more of the Language, so that when Francoise our Neighbour comes to visit we know the word for digging a hole or can I borrow his ladder. We live in an Old Water Mill, Le Moulin set in a tiny and I do mean tiny village, set in a little over 4 acres with it's own small river, there is always plenty to do.
My wife and I are now spending lots of time becoming part of the French way of doing things, yep, it's all about lunch at 12noon, and plenty of afternoon sleeps to recharge the batteries.
We operate our Uk Rental Business here in France with the help of John and Tracey our Agents who take care of the front of house and for 4yrs now have done a marvelous job for us.
Well coming to the end of another year for us here, we leave to head back at the end of each November for our daughter Simone's Birthday (she would murder us if we missed it). We leave as the season starts another period here in the Auvergne where temperatures will and do drop to as low as -25deg C, one of our Neighbours Henk-jan (holland) stayed last year and admitted to me that he spent every day stoking and feeding the fire, it was all about keeping warm.
We often find on our return broken tins of food, those Frozen during the harsh winter months, only to explode and be found in early spring.
We love to travel to various parts of the world, that's a photo of me at John Lennon's Garden Memorial in Central Park in Manhattan NYC. We have now visited every state in American including the outer states, such as Hawaii and Porto Rico.
I love our time in the garden, but not that good at it, I try to make my own wine including blackberry wine - I'm getting better, but it is so cheap to buy here, it makes my efforts seem in vain.
Big Ebay fan and now having to ween myself off it as France Ebay is absolute rubbish, the French have not taken to it at all.
Like Good Home made Food, probably because Sharon my wife is so good at it, cooking that is, we both enjoy to entertain and have friends around to help me eat it all.
Love Action Movies and of course the Theater especial family end of year panto's all cosy in our little ashtray munching of a picnic.
Lastly I Love my family for putting up with me for the last 40yrs.
Signed your Host Keith & Sharon Spence, John and Tracey our Front of House and everyone who has helped us along the way to making this a Micro Business of importance and value
