Die Unterkunft

This listing is for the Attic Suite which can sleep 2 adults and up to 4 children on mattress beds on the floor. There is also room for a travel cot.

Our attic has been converted to create a beautiful bedroom and bathroom, you have the whole floor to yourself. The large bathroom has a roll top bath and a shower. The bedroom has a king size bed, a large television, DVD player, and 2 chairs to create a seating area. There is plenty of space for mattress beds on the floor for children and a travel cot. We have a double and 2 single mattress beds and a travel cot you may borrow. Bedding is included for the mattress beds but not the travel cot.

There is a small fridge for you to use with fresh milk, tea and coffee facilities in the hallway.

We also have 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom with a very good shower on the first floor. The larger bedroom has an en suite bathroom, a king size bed, a TV and room for a cot or a single mattress bed for children. The second double bedroom has a beautiful bay window which can be taken with the larger room only as the 2 rooms share a bathroom. There is space for a cot and a single mattress bed suitable for children in the smaller room. To book these rooms please see the seperate listings on the page about me.

We have a large, enclosed, secluded garden with several tables and chairs. A field behind the garden for our chickens, ducks and guinea fowl. You can walk straight onto a network of foot paths from our field. I have a good map with directions showing all local walks and some further to local pubs.

Higher Lewell Farm House was originally built in the 1760’s and the date can be seen clearly written in brick on the front of the house. The house is situated at the top of Hardys Row on the outskirts of the village backing on to fields. Hardys Row was named after Thomas Hardy's father who built 6 houses on the row to house the poor of the village.

Zugang für Gäste

The house and accommodation for guests consists of a kitchen where we invite you to take your breakfast. We offer a traditional breakfast but we are very happy to accommodate any dietary requirements or particular favourites. You may also collect fresh eggs from the chicken house if you like. We have a large secluded garden and vegetable patch with adjoining field for the chickens and our neighbours horse. We also have a room suitable for coats, boots and bikes.

Interaktion mit Gästen

As much or as little as you like. We are very happy for you to join in, or hide in your rooms. We have both lived in Dorset all our lives so are happy to help you plan days out to explore Dorset which is full of beautiful places to walk, play and eat.

Die Nachbarschaft

In the centre of Thomas Hardys stunning countryside. We are on the edge of the village backing onto fields so it is very quiet. The village is very pretty particularly in spring and summer as many of our neighbours are very keen gardeners. The village has a lovely pub serving very good food a 3 minute walk away and you can also walk to the next door village which has a very good pub too.

We are 10 minutes from Dorchester train station and are very happy to come and pick you up for £5, or we can arrange a taxi. We have plenty of off road parking.

The perfect place for a weekend in Dorset! Very laid back and relaxed but nothing was too much trouble for Mike and Sophia. Our children loved the huge garden and friendly Labrador. There's a nice country pub 2 minutes' walk away, Dorchester and the coast are less than 20 minutes by car.

The perfect place to stay while exploring the wonderful Dorset coast and surrounding areas. An old character-filled home, with friendly pets and very welcoming hosts. We had a great weekend and will no doubt return!

I can highly recommend staying at Sophia's place. The farm house has bags of character with a lovely garden and we were made to feel very welcome. We stayed in the attic room which was perfect for us ( 2 adults, 1 child and a toddler). Our girls loved running around the garden with the chickens and dogs! The farmhouse is within easy reach of the Jurassic Coast and we had a great three days of exploring coves, walking along cliffs and building sand castles.

Sophia is a wonderful and welcoming host, and cooks an awesome breakfast. The house is lovely, the beds really comfortable, with a lovely garden and fields for walking or visiting the chickens (fresh eggs for breakfast!) The location is beautiful and quiet, but with a great pub in walking distance. It's in easy reach of Dorset's famous sites such Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. We look forward to visiting Sophia's home again, as we had such a lovely weekend there.

Just the loveliest home, the most charming hosts, made to feel like old friends from the moment we walked through the door. Breakfast-superb! Beds-super comfy! 2 boys, aged 9 & 11 and Elka the Labrador loved the house, the garden, the animals and the perfect situation to enjoy all the Jurassic Coast has to offer. Cannot recommend highly enough.

My husband Mike and I have lived in Dorset all our lives, both growing up on farms near Dorchester. We moved into the Farmhouse in 2008 and have completely fallen in love with it, the garden and our village. We have been running the B and B since 2011 and really enjoy it. We have met some really lovely people and both love having guests in the house, whether they come for parties, a rest or to explore Dorset. We have 2 very friendly dogs and 3 cats, who all love children, and lots of chickens and ducks. We both love animals, wildlife and nature. Mike is a landscape gardener and tree surgeon, I am studying to be a nutritionist and when I have time I volunteer for the Dorset Wildlife Trust and Compassionate Dorset.
