Thanks so much for the feedback, this is really is great for us to make further improvements to our location so that other guests who come to our place have a great experience which is our ultimate goal. One note for you in the future, if you have such extensive issues with a location you stay at I think a phone call would be great to talk through some of the items you mentioned because only so much can be accomplished or understood though written communication. Any good host would love to hear from the guest to help improve their stay and it's unfortunate that you never called me able to actually to talk through any of this via the phone rather through this forum. In addition, because of your feedback I will be making a more concerted effort to check in with guests via phone to be more proactive about a guests experience at our location.
That being said, I will address all of your concerns below:
Cleanliness – tub not draining. You are correct this was missed during the cleaning portion of your unit. Thank you for plunging this out, we really appreciate this. In the future, this an item you should call/text your host about and we would have gladly come to fix this for you. This has since been cleared out and the cleaning crew has been notified that they need to be more diligent to check on this for the future.
Noise – thanks for making the adjustments with the fire alarm, we have replaced the batteries as of your post. This unfortunately is a natural item that happens with batteries and fire alarms, unfortunately, for you this happened overnight while you were sleeping. Again, this was an item you should have called/texted to us for your own safety as it relates to just having a fresh battery in their. We keep new batteries in the unit for changing as well that we could have guided you too had you given us a call.
I have also addressed the issue of loud conversations with my parents, however, as you noted their conversations were happening during the allotted non-quiet hours so this was something we were transparent about in our listing. That being said, it should still not be excessive so my parents will try to be more cautious going forward. In addition to that, we are actually taking further actions to make the upstairs more sound proof. We are going to be putting more rugs upstairs so that noise will not be heard downstairs as much. We are also looking at other professional ways to further soundproof the upstairs from the downstairs.
Lighting – there is an automated sensor light set up in the stairwell that should have lit up the stairwell regardless of the second light that my parents have control upstairs via their unit. We will check on these batteries as well to ensure that they are fresh and there are no other issues with the light.
Silverware – the unit was equipped with a set of 6-8 forks and knives, enough to accommodate a group of six. Unfortunately, over the course of time guest have traveled away with our silverware. We have since replaced and any group going forward we will be fine with groups of six. We will also look into some sharper knives for cutting or sharpen the existing ones.
Finally, while we respect your opinion as to whether or not one can have a comfortable stay greater than one night this hasn't been the consensus from the majority of our guests who have stayed for multiple nights. The reviews can be seen in our history and overall ratings in general.
Once again, thanks for your feedback. Happy stay at your next Airbnb location!
