Easy access to diving, 4 wheeling, whale watching (Dec. thru March), horseback riding, zip line and other outdoor activities. Jose speaks Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese and English.

As much as you want...On site manager Jose is usually close by and can help you organize diving, hiking, boating, horseback riding, sport fishing, etc. Oh, and he's a FANTASTIC cook, Japanese influenced.

It's the end of the road and the end of the Samana peninsula, remote, but accessible (just 3 hours from Santo Domingo) and surrounded by nature. Eat fresh seafood at the beach, arrange a dive or sport fishing trip, swim, snorkel or sunbathe, depending on your mood. Nearby, on the main street, you'll find lots of restaurants, bars, pool, shopping, massages, banking, discos,

Public tranportation here is GREAT. If you need help organizing it, let me know. Only runs until dark. After that you'll need a taxi or friend with a vehicle.

Laundry service can be arranged.

Cindy, really. No one calls me Cynthia.

My life motto, which seems to work MOST of the time: Que el viento se lleve tus problemas. (Let the wind take your troubles away.)

I'm fairly well-traveled and had never stayed in the same place for more than 2 or 3 days during any of my travels, though I was often gone from my northern California home for months at a time. Then, because I’ve always been drawn to “end of the road” places, I “ended up” in Las Galeras. I moved here a year later to try it out and never went “home”. I’ve explored most of the DR, but I’ve lived on the Samana Peninsula for almost 10 years and now know it quite well.

Though I have a full time job, the ocean, sun and coconut trees make me feel like I'm still on vacation. Sure, I miss some things about life in the good ole USA. Flying, live music (blues, bluegrass, alternative, jazz), backpacking, my fellow volunteers at Sonoma Land Trust, downhill skiing, high speed internet, wine tasting, second hand book stores, Home Depot, The Golden Gate Bridge, Sierra Club "dog hikes", and my granola-crunching, tree-hugging friends, but I love it here.

My Promise: If you come here as my guest, I promise to do whatever I can to make sure you have a great time. I want you to go home thinking that working, saving, planning, organizing and packing (passport, sunscreen, insect repellent, iPhone charger, swim suit, camera, flip flops, iPod, paperback book/s, umbrella).......and then hauling it all to the Dominican Republic and back was worth it. (And that maybe you’d even recommend it to a friend.)

Hope to see you soon.
