Covid-19 Update: We take guests' and our own safety seriously so we would like to let you prospective guests know about the antimicrobial safety precautions that we have always taken here at this AirBNB, even before the outbreak.

1. We use full strength bleach to clean towels, sheets, showers, and toilets to ensure that any infectious agents have been neutralized.

2. Your room has its own thermostat, heater, air conditioner so that there is no recirculated air in your room from the rest of the house. The central air system in the downstairs common area has been outfitted with MERV-16 antiviral filters.

3. We have multiple whole house humidification systems to keep the humidity up around 50% in the colder months. It's a scientific fact that high humidity lowers airborne viral transmission because humid air causes viruses to break apart. In one study, breathing mannequins were placed 6 feet apart. "At humidity levels of 23 percent, 70 to 77 percent of the flu virus particles were still able to cause an infection an hour after the coughing simulation. But when humidity levels were raised to 43 percent, just 14 percent of the virus particles had the ability to infect. Most of the flu particles became inactive 15 minutes after they were released into the humid air. "The virus just falls apart," at high humidity levels, said study researcher John Noti, of the CDC's National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health."

4. We use a HEPA vacuum in the whole house to ensure even small particles are contained and eliminated.

--------------

Guests love the exposed brick, high ceilings, warm colors, extensive plants, and Victorian charm of this updated 1896 Brownstone. It's updated with many state-of-the-art features including brand new central air/heat with HEPA filtration and humidification.

The guest room includes a brand new twin sized bed, a mini fridge and freezer, a microwave, a coffee station with refreshments, a dedicated in-room thermostat, and a box of toiletries in case you forgot something.

It's close to all of the best that Midtown has to offer.

You are renting private use of your bedroom and use of a shared bathroom.

We ask that guests kindly store any food in the separate in-room guest fridge, as it is always fresh, clean, and empty when a guest arrives. There are utensils, a mug, a microwave, and cups provided in your room for your use. Plates are not provided.

You are NOT permitted use of the first floor common areas or kitchen. You may NOT use any items in the downstairs kitchen.

There is also a washer and dryer available for guest use when needed for $10 per load.

Guests are to use free street parking unless other arrangements are made in advance. A parking space may be available for $15 per night if it's not already rented.

Note: There is no closet in this room for guest use, but there is a dresser.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
While our guests all have loved our place and the intricate details on nearly every surface in our home, the high ceilings, and the fantastic views, we realize that it's not ideally suited to anyone who has trouble climbing stairs. There are a few stairs into the house at all entrances, and the first floor has 10 foot ceilings which make for a long staircase to reach the bedrooms on the second floor. Also, due to the historic nature of the house, neither we, nor any former owners wanted to tear up the unique finishes to add ductwork. Therefore, we have electric baseboard heat (with a thermostat in literally every room) and window AC units (all newer and very cold) in the bedrooms. Your bedroom has its own air conditioner and you may set it however you like. The first floor has central air/heat with HEPA filtration and humidification. As for the rest of the second floor, we typically just turn on units in whichever rooms are currently in use and shut them off if we leave the room. You may leave your bedroom AC on while you're out if you prefer; however please turn off any other air conditioners that you turn on when leaving the room/house.

Also, while parking is widely available and free, it is street parking here (no meters or permits required). You may inquire about off street parking spaces, which are available for $15/night extra.

A few brief factoids about me: Over-educated tractor trailer driver who is working on several startups as well as hosting AirBNBs. ENTP. Avid traveler. It's my favorite thing. Homeowner. Shameless National Park Spokesperson. (unpaid....for now) Foodie and obsessive chef. Plant parent. Maker of puns. Wine enthusiast. Hater of cigarettes. Lover of great conversations. Well, since this is a travelling site, I'll say that my favorite trip thus far was a two week epic road trip along the Pacific Coast that involved romance, redwoods, dear friends, anthropological nutrition, and lots of unforgettable stories. Also flying in a helicopter over the Grand Canyon and meeting the Grand Canyon's Narnian squirrels was pretty awesome, though I think Zion NP has been my favorite park to date. I would love to compare notes on the best parks. Sharing stories with guests and hosts is always a favorite part of this experience, but I also totally understand busy schedules that don't always allow for chit chat. I have been in Harrisburg for about a decade now and lived in three different parts of town before deciding to call Midtown home. Whether you're in town for a night or a month, I can recommend some excellent eats and awesome activities to make your stay the best it can be. Harrisburg has become a thriving, hip, cultured, and foodie-centric city in recent years. We have many great options to explore.

Feel free to message me by AirBNB app at any time or by phone from 8AM to 10:30PM for emergencies. I will respond fastest to AirBNB app messages. Many times texts do not come through, so the AirBNB app is a much better way to reach us. I will be on site much of the time. We love sharing stories, conversation, and fun ideas for things to do in the area with our guests (perhaps even a meal), but we also totally understand busy schedules that don't allow for all of that and will do our best to make your stay as efficient as possible if that's what you desire.
