These guests tried very hard to find any excuse whatsoever to ask me for a partial return of their money after they checked out. But really, if things were that bad (abducted child chained in the garage and valuables being stolen) how could they even consider staying? And how did my home manage to get any positive reviews? The review states that the home was in the process of being cleaned when they arrived. This is true. A family emergency arose that morning and my home was not ready until 3 pm instead of 1 pm. The description of crumbled soiled bedding, bathroom and floors needing cleaning, leftover pizza in the frig are all quite normal things one would see in the “process of cleaning.” There was not a smell of smoke as the fireplace had not been used for several months, but what the heck, there’s a fireplace, another thing to complain about. There were not random holes. There was one hole approx. a 6 inch square that the plumber had cut in the drywall the day before to replace a faucet. I explained that to them and they were okay with it. The only stains on the walls were ones that they were responsible for causing. Some liquid, looked like coffee, was spilled on the walls of the foyer in between the bedrooms. They claim the stains were there before they checked in, but this is a blatant lie. Concerning the ACs, they are all new, and I gave the guests ample instructions on how to avoid any problems and maintain a very comfortable temperature. Instead, they totally ignored me and did not even alert me of the problem they were having. Their discomfort was totally avoidable. In fact, I did not hear of any problems until after they had checked out when she asked for a partial return. I would have been willing to accommodate her because of the 2 hours late check in, however, when I discovered the spills in the foyer, I was no longer agreeable to it because of the expense involved in repainting over the stains left in the foyer. Yes, I explained to the guests that I would be staying in a tent/camper at the far end of the property at least 500 feet from the house. They had the entire 1200 sq. ft. house to themselves and I respected their privacy 100%. How kind of them to give the home credit for having towels. How about new beds, new bedding, a well-equipped kitchen with newer appliances, a new grill on the backyard patio, washer and dryer in the basement and, I already mentioned, the new ACs. As of now, there is not the use of the garage for parking until I find storage for yard equipment, boating supplies, and other misc items. Oh yea, I almost forgot, I’ll need to unchain the children.
