The basement apartment itself is roomy with an industrial/unfinished vibe. Not a ton of light and you can hear the neighbors walking upstairs, but that wasn't a problem for us. The lock box check-in was convenient and we never met our hosts face-to-face. The highlight for us was the location. We were conveniently located just a 5 minute walk from a brown line station and down the street from plenty of low-key but unique bars and restaurants. We enjoyed breakfast at the Pannenkoeken Cafe and Gene's Sausage Shop (though tragically the rooftop doesn't reopen for another month). For nearby drinks we liked Huttenbar and Half Acre brewery.

I stayed here with a boyfriend and a friend for a long wedding weekend. We didn't use the apartment for much besides sleeping and breakfast, but it was perfect for what we needed. There are a number of coffee shops, restaurants and drug stores in easy walking distance, as well as reliable public transportation, and we never had a problem finding easy street parking in front of the apartment. The apartment itself was great, warm even in a Chicago winter. One teeny note, mostly for the ladies: the mirrors aren't great for doing makeup, so you may want to bring a small mirror with you. Other than that, we had everything we needed in the kitchen and elsewhere. Alex himself was a GREAT host to us, very responsive when we wanted an extra blanket. He was flexible when we needed to extend our checkout time because some flights were delayed with a Chicago snowstorm, and that was much appreciated. A friend who flew in from Midway said it was an easy train ride in from the airport, and we never had trouble finding Ubers for nighttime transportation. This type of stay (and host!) is exactly what makes me love Airbnb so much!

We had a great stay at Alex's place! It is exactly as described, and was perfect for us and our 14 month old daughter. We were even able to put her pack 'n play in the small office, which has a door. The apartment is very close to all of the great restaurants and shops in Lincoln Square. Alex was very good with communication, and the basket of food and snacks was much appreciated. We highly recommend staying here!

Alex and Trish did a marvelous job. I must say that as my first experience using Airbnb, I came away feeling like I had my own home in the city of Chicago. The private back yard is a nice touch of nature, and the house is both close to Lincoln Square and the "L", so it is easy to get around and experience the city. Alex has a nice list of suggestions for things to do in the city, and we also discovered many other possibilities. We felt right at home, and the neighborhood is fantastic. A great selection of books to read, and classic vinyl albums to peruse, means that even your down time can be enjoyable and fulfilling here. I can't wait to get back to Chicago, and I hope that Alex has a vacancy the next time I do. All in all, an excellent experience! Thank you, Bill

Alex was easy to get a hold of and the place is near the Western stop on brown line. Alex left a welcome basket and was very accommodating. Good place for a weekend.
