Our family loves our historic row house in the middle of Somerville. The house has two bedrooms, 1.5 baths, a recently-renovated kitchen, and a flower-filled private patio, and it is an easy ride or walk to Boston or Cambridge.

Our house is only 1400 sf but it feels like more. There are two large bedrooms (queen bed in the master and two twins in the second room) and a full bath upstairs, and a living room,open-plan kitchen & dining room, and a half bath downstairs. The rear patio is private and full of flowers and a pear tree, and it has a charcoal grill and a dining table for six.

Guests have full use of the house except for a small room on the second floor (owner's stuff) and the basement. This means that the bedrooms will have an empty closet and empty chest of drawers, you'll have room for your own toiletries in the bathroom, etc. The kitchen has everything you could want (we cook a lot), and the house is full of books, games, etc. that our guests are welcome to use. There is a full-size piano in the dining room for the musically-inclined. We have a parking pass for resident parking. Access to laundry in the basement can be negotiated for longer stays. We have a DVD player and DirecTV, with parental blocks already enabled (though we can give you the override code).

We will greet you and see you off, but the house will be yours for your entire stay. We will typically be in town and a short distance away if you ever need anything, but we also have plenty of friends and family a half-mile away or less who will occasionally fill in for us if we are out of town ourselves.

Somerville is a diverse community full of cultural activities. Davis and Union Squares are each an easy walk or ride away, with coffee shops, movie theaters, antique stores, and great restaurants and local music venues. Within an easy walk are Highland Kitchen and Sarma, both great local restaurants, and the Armory Cafe and Three Little Figs coffee shops . If you want to venture a bit further, we are a 20-minute walk to Harvard Square or Tufts University. The newly-opened Assembly Row is just down the hill from us and features an AMC cinema, Legoland Discovery Center (for kids), and lots of outlets and restaurants.

The #80 MBTA bus stops literally at our front door, and it will take you to the Lechmere stop on the Green Line (10 minute ride) or up to Tufts (15 mins). A one-block walk in either direction will get you to busses that bring you to Davis Square (Red Line) or Sullivan Square (Orange Line). For drivers, we have a parking pass for resident parking right in front of the house. It is a 20-minute cab ride from Logan airport, usually costing $30 or so. There are a number of Zipcar locations within a 5-minute walk from the house.

During the winter, our Morso wood-burning stove makes the house warm and cozy. In summer, ceiling fans and window air conditioners in the bedrooms, as well as a ceiling fan in the living room, keep the house surprisingly cool. Our house is comfortable, but not precious, with an assortment of unique furniture and art, most of which had already lived long and fruitful lives before coming to us!

We have two dogs ourselves, so we are open to having pets traveling with our guests. We are a non-smoking house and would ask smoking guests to do so in the rear patio. Other than that, we don't have many rules. This house has been our home for over 10 years and all the work that has been done we have done ourselves. We would hope that guests will treat it as they would their own homes.

My wife, 2 year old son, dog and I needed a place to stay for two weeks before our new apartment opened up. Amy's home exceeded our expectations tremendously. The kitchen is a pleasure to cook in, there were toys for our son to play with and a lovely garden that we ate our meals in every evening. The house is so comfortable, well-designed and tastefully decorated that we were sad to leave! Great food is within walking distance on Highland and Medford and a magical playground on Albion. Couldn't recommend Amy's place more!

This row house was exactly what we wanted for our 5 day stay in Boston area. Convenient to everything we wanted to do, great breakfast place we could walk to from house, convenience store around the corner, and overall fulfilled our expectations. Space was not an issue; surprised us all how roomy the place was and the fact we could cook and hang out in the kitchen was a huge plus for us! Though we were a group of adults, I can honestly say this is an ideal place for a family with kids as well. Amy made certain we had all our needs met. I will most definitely return.

We had a fantastic stay at Amy's place. We traveled with 2 children 7 and 9 and they LOVED the home. We fell in love with the town of Somerville. Found some great restaurants in the area. It was an easy ride into the city, to avoid parking we used Lyft/Uber. Amy was a wonderful host and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time!!

In late June, my husband, teenage daughter, and I traveled to Boston. Our Bishon Frise traveled with us as well. We were lucky enough to stay at Amy's lovely row house in Somerville. Although we didn't meet Amy, she was welcoming and helpful in her communication. The neighbor next door, Kate, met us and showed us around. We received a parking pass in order to park along the street. We drove our car into the city and parked downtown and used Uber ($12) to go to a Red Sox game as parking is expensive ($50+). There was a dog park down the street that Kate shared with us which made walking our dog a breeze. The bedrooms have air conditioning window units in the summer. The patio was lovely. We would definitely contact Amy again to rent her home.
