Spend your holidays in a quality area, right in the heart of Western Europe - between a marvellous lake (L of Constance) and the gorgeous Austrian mountains !
As to my flat: it is a two-storey-apt with about 70 sq metres (approx 754 sq feet) plus 10 sqm terrasse and has all necessary amenities you can expect; unless I am away travelling, we would share the bathroom and the living room, but you have a room for your own (though only seperated by a curtain, see px). You can use all my books, CDs and DVDs as long as you put them back into the shelfs. I appreciate if you handle all my stuff with care - you can use my kitchen upon request, but you'll get breakfast 4free !
The apartment is located close to the inner city of Dornbirn, approx 3 min by car, 10 min by bus (train station) and 20 min for walkers; it is in an apt-block, 2nd floor - no elevator. Parking in front of the building is free.
My cat always stays indoor and likes hiding, please note that she will not seek your company, as she is easily frightened because she is almost blind; but if you let her alone, she is asleep most of the time - and real fun, if she is awake ;-)
Vorarlberg is a small county in the very West of Austria (approx 370.000 inhabitants), next to the Swiss/German border. With its stunning landscape it is well-known for skiing in Winter (Lech is a most famous village located in V.) and for hiking, biking and sailing in Summer - whatever you prefer !
For people interested in culture and classics, Vorarlberg offers the 'Bregenzer Seefestspiele' between mid-July to end-August with a stage ON the lake - a must if you are around at this time of the year - as well as the 'Schubertiade' in Schwarzenberg and many other cultural events. For the rainy days you can visit our Rolls-Royce-Museum or go for a swim in our public indoor swimming pools.
If you are not travelling by car, the train and public busses are a good alternative - these means of transport can take you anywhere around for a daytrip, and in the evening you can still discover the little town Dornbirn (45.000 inh).
If you have a car available, you can go anywhere between Milano and Munich easily, Dornbirn is an ideal base for the Central-European-Region - just check out the Austrian highway tax (there is a 10-days-ticket), you need a seperate ticket for Swiss highways - and don't drive too fast in CH, the fines are incredibly high. The nearest airports are Altenrhein (22 km, CH), Friedrichshafen (47 km, DE), Memmingen (also: Munich West 89 km, DE), there are transport services from all of these places to Dornbirn.
I am looking forward to welcoming you in Dornbirn !
this is a rural area, so please be friendly to my neighbours ;-)
feel like at home, plse always look out for the cat (she might scare YOU, if she is frightened)
if you want to stay for a longer period, plse contact me first - can be possible after prior arrangement !
an European woman - who loves to read, travel, going to theatres/music/films, hiking/biking and her cat - was living in Vienna for many years, now living in the alps region at the border of Switzerland/Austria (lake of Constance); no TV at home
