Rusticate in style! Whether you're looking for an action-packed family holiday, a romantic getaway, or even a serene place to work on those memoirs, this beautiful vintage farmhouse is the perfect place to fall in love with Acadia and Downeast Maine.
The farmhouse is situated on over two acres of open grass and fruit trees, surrounded by woods with not a neighbor in sight. Most rooms face south, with broad, bright views of Lucky's Field and the mountains of Acadia National Park beyond.
This old house is equipped with all modern conveniences, from wi-fi, smart TV, and bluetooth stereo to the fully-equipped gourmet kitchen, plus outdoor games and seating, a well-stocked library of books, and much more. The decor is elegant, cheerful, and comfortable. Each room is painted a different color. Vintage furniture includes incredibly comfy couches, a large desk, and seating for up to six. Whimsical details throughout the house are designed to bring a smile.
As of Spring 2017, we’ve completed some significant upgrades to the house, including a stylishly remodeled bathroom upstairs, new high-performance washer/dryer, and fresh paint in several rooms.
Outside: a front porch under the lilacs provides a pleasant spot to relax in one of the Adirondack chairs and take in the surrounding beauty. The back patio, with a new picnic table and setee, makes for memorable evening gatherings and barbecues. The fragrant perennial garden out front attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. The wildlife here is spectacular: you’re likely to spot eagles, osprey, and a variety of warblers in the woods. Foxes and deer are not uncommon; we’ve also seen moose, bear and bobcat from the kitchen window. At dusk, you may hear the drumming of a grouse or the ethereal song of a thrush. Fireflies provide lively evening entertainment. Spring brings the timberdoodles and spring peepers, and in the autumn, the foliage is phenomenal.
Outdoor amenities include a picnic table, a charcoal barbecue, kayaks (two singles and a double), bicycles (5 adult mountain bikes, 1-2 kid-size), as well as beach chairs, coolers, and clamming equipment you can take to the nearby beaches. You'll also find assorted games to take out on the lawn.

We live part time at the farmhouse, the remainder of the time in San Francisco. We have a local property manager who keeps an eye on things while we're gone.
