It's been a long and interesting journey from New York to Pioneertown. In 1977 I moved from upstate NY to Los Angeles and then settled in the desert. If someone told me that I would live in the Mojave Desert, on a dirt road, with goats and chickens...I would have laughed. But for the past 25 years Pioneertown has been my home and I still love it.
I recently retired from the school district where I worked with special needs children. It was a wonderful job and I loved my students but it was time for a change.
Retirement to me does not mean late mornings in bed and daytime T.V. I love to hike and exercise. Maintaining a garden is a never ending struggle but it's wonderful to pick fresh greens and herbs to add to my dishes. Creating healthy colorful meals has become a passion.
I am a self-taught artist, playing with paint for over 50 years. My experiments in ART have led me to illustrating a children's book, painting on paper, canvas and furniture, making cards and creating collages. One of my greatest joys has been teaching ART to kids and all new artists.
I hope that by opening up my home and sharing some of my life I can give travelers a glimpse into what I consider paradise. I am very excited about this new adventure and hope to see you soon.
