I absolutely loved Greenpoint and the flat is situated very close to the water with a breath taking view of the Manhattan skyline. There are plenty of shops and bars for everything you need and you are only a short walk from Williamsburg. The flat is very big and kept clean and …

Oh well, there's always one, isn't there? I believe the universe sent me Liz to teach me a lesson about the limits of my ability to please people. Despite the fact that she simply announced that she was changing fundamental terms of our agreement (the length of her stay, the number of guests), I strove to make the experience as congenial and pleasant as I could. I went out of my way to make her comfortable : buying her special laundry detergent which she told me she would reimburse me for but didn't; setting up my television to record her favorite television show, "Murder She Wrote"; as well as just generally sharing meals I prepared with her and inviting her to my Fourth of July BBQ. This while she turned my home into a revolving door for her friends and family to visit the US. I also made it clear she was welcome to use the outdoor space as long as I wasn't sleeping - I kept the door to my bedroom open and it tidy - so I think her issue with not being able to use the garden had more to do with her secretive smoking habit than anything else. As far as my dogs are concerned, I am up front about requiring dog lovers as guests, and I don't believe that Liz is a true dog-lover. One of my dogs is geriatric and sits in my bed all day and is practically invisible. The youngest isn't quite an adult dog yet and is a bit excited and barks when the front door opens, but this is not an uncommon trait in dogs. In fact, it is part of the reason human beings formed a relationship with dogs in the first place. I also keep a gate separating them from the hallway with the guest room to unsure that they are not bothering people. When Kipper had his "accident" on Liz' bed, it was because the gate had not been closed properly, and she had left her door open. Part of me doesn't really blame him either as I think he was expressing some resentful feelings about the Liz experience that I was struggling to repress... He has never done this with another guest. Just saying.
Ugly bag of mostly water.
