These apartments are located on top of a cliff, basically on the beach. There is a little pathway to reach the beach in less than 1 minute. In the area there are several surf spots that offer surf in almost any condition for any surfer (beginner, intermediate, advanced). Most of them walkable. I've heard autumn/winter has the highest waves though.
The place was very clean. Nothing too fancy but well equipped and has everything you would need. Shower is great and powerful. Kitchen well equipped for dining and barbecue. Sheets and towels very clean, and if you need new ones halfway your stay (or earlier) just ask Joao and he will provide them.
We had great communication with the host, replies within 5 minutes most of the time. As well as that, he is a very nice guy and always in for a chat and making sure that everything is alright.
There is a little table for each apartment outside on the shared patio where you can sit and have dinner/coffee/etc. Also there is a shared space on top of the roof, with a great view over all the beaches and cliffs. It is perfect to have your coffee in the morning and check the waves and where to go today ... :-)). Then there is a BBQ on the patio as well, you can use it anytime and is always good to meet other people staying in the houses (most of them surfers/surf-minded). There is a place to put your board (if you bring it), an outside (cold) shower to clean your wetsuit and board after surf and plenty of space to hang clothes to dry. If you don't bring a wetsuit and/or board yourself, you can rent these here as well.
Area is cute, quite some surfer-targeted restaurants with burgers and such, some better than others but quite affordable. Some more upscale places in a 5 min walk, most notably the Surfer Lodge and a great new fish restaurant, Republica das Lagostas. A new supermarket has just opened 4 min walk from the apartments which is great. It also features a terrace and very affordable beers with sun in the afternoon, so you will find a lot of surfers chilling out after surf there which is great for watching (and/or meeting ;-)) new people. Surf school, yoga, rentals, everything within 7 mins walk. If the weather is bad, it's always worth to visit Peniche, which is beautiful and has a great local market with fresh local everything. Or rent a bike and just ride around.
This was our second time in Lagide/Baleal, and we love it! Will definitely be back and this place rocks. Great nature, not too commercialised (yet....), many surf and sport opportunities, Just be wary that nights tend to be cold and sometimes quite humid, so bring sweaters/jackets and long pants (even though the weather report might hint differently).
