Modern kitchen, functional fireplaces, distinctive privacy, and a stone's throw to Acland St or the beach all make this apartment a wonderful base in the St Kilda area, and Melbourne in general.
A property of grandeur, combining a unique blend of tradition with modern elegance and style, the building was originally built in 1870 by Thomas Loader, Chairman of the City of Melbourne Bank. The security entrance foyer is impressive, with elegant leadlight door and grand staircase to the first floor. Opening onto a modern kitchen and lounge room with an open fire place and marble surrounds, European appliances with a gas cooktop, electric oven and granite benchtops. A large wrap around balcony from the lounge to the bathroom overlooks the picturesque gardens. A ceiling rose with dramatic floor to ceiling windows and an open fire place are found in the bedroom with an adjoining ensuite, also accessing the balcony. Beautifully polished original Baltic pine floorboards are featured throughout the property, with high ceilings, all insulated. Efficient gas heating in the lounge ensures you will be toasty warm with no effort on colder nights, and a small portable air-conditioning unit will keep you cool on any warmer days.

If we are in town we will hopefully meet you as we are coming or going, or one of our friendly girls will help out. You have complete privacy in the property. As this is an apartment in an older building, we request that guests be particularly sensitive of neighbours, and excessive noise is not at all appropriate for this property: our other listing, "The Aerie" is a little more flexible in this regard as it resides on top of a commercial building, though for all our properties we request respect of the surroundings.

We generally only accept bookings for 2 weeks or longer, but occasionally have gaps between larger bookings, and when this happens we change our minimum stay settings so we can accept bookings during these gaps. If you want to stay sometime not within a day or two of an existing booking and less than 2 weeks, PLEASE do not request a booking as we will probably decline. Please check the calendar, we always keep it up to date.
Queen four poster bed is in the bedroom and there is a sofa bed in the lounge as well as a single daybed which can be used as a very comfortable full size single bed, and also a small fold out Ottoman (most suitable for a child, but can accommodate a smaller adult), for up to four extra guests for a total of 6 maximum occupants for The Manse.
Keys are delivered in person where possible but outside our normal check-in hours are available from our North Melbourne office or by key lock box. We prefer longer stays and have great discounts for monthly (or longer) guests.
Strictly no smoking and no pets, this is a quiet residential building so no raucousness (this is a "no party" space), please be respectful of our space and we will be happy as larks!
