15th of October! Make a special day in ROME
From the top: nature and culture between the Gianicolo and the Lungara
An itinerary to discover one of Rome's hills: you will climb from Via della Lungara on the Tiber at the top of the Gianicolo to know the history of a part of the Ube where abundance of water and panoramic views have favored the creation of gardens, parks botanical collections and sumptuous residences that today host important cultural institutions.
Royal Academy of Spain
The Royal Academy of Spain is located in the convent of San Pietro in Montorio, located in the place where tradition is the martyrdom of St. Peter's Apostle.
San Pietro in Montorio: Inside the complex there is one of the masterpieces of Italian Renaissance architecture, the temple built by Bramante at the beginning of the sixteenth century, the circular structure surrounded by 16 columns, the number recognized as perfect by Vitruvius. During the FAI Day, the crypt, usually inaccessible, will be visited.

Palazzo Corsini and the gardens of Villa Farnesina
In 1736, Cardinal Neri Corsini, nephew of Lorenzo Corsini, Pope Clement XII, purchased the Palazzo Riario, built at the end of the sixteenth century, where Michelangelo had lived very young and who in the seventeenth century was the residence of Queen Cristina of Sweden and the cenacle of intellectuals who then gave birth at the Accademia dell'Arcadia. He edited and enlarged, by the Florentine architect Ferdinando Fuga, the building, one of the most beautiful Roman palaces of the eighteenth century. In 1883 the palace was bought by the Italian government to have the offices and library of the Royal Academy of the Lincei and the Gallery of Ancient Art, already Corsini. Prince Tommaso Corsini, in the same year, had donated to the academy the beautiful library of his family with a precious fund of manuscripts, incunabula, drawings and prints. The Lincei Academy, founded in 1603 by Federico Cesi, scholar of natural and botanical sciences, is the oldest scientific academy in the world and includes among its first Galileo Galilei partners. The visit will allow you to discover, in addition to the Corsina library, private apartments on the first floor of Cristina of Sweden. In front of Palazzo Corsini is the Renaissance residence built by the Sienese banker Agostino Chigi, as a villa away from the clamor dell'Urbe, Villa Farnesina, house surrounded by greenery, where you can visit the gardens, in harmony with the architecture of the villa , up to the "secret garden" inspired by the sixth-century hortus conclusus, separated by a "high hedge" from the "garden of representation".

The Garden of Palazzo Corsini and the botanical garden
When, in 1883, the Palazzo Corsini property passed to the state, in his garden he was transferred to the Botanical garden, developed in the archaeological area of Settimio Severo Terme, 12 hectares in which we live centuries-old trees and botanical rarities. Managed by the Department of Environmental Biology at La Sapienza University, its collections are interesting not only for their scientific value, but above all for the mode of cultivation and scenographic reconstruction of the environments that help the visitor to ideally place the specimens in the areas of origin. The 3000 species of host plants are grouped, in fact, for systematic order, evolution adaptation and ecological attitudes. Of particular importance is the collection of gimnosperms and palms; the Garden of the Semplici with about 200 medicinal plants; rosé with more than 60 species of roses; gardens with Mediterranean and desert plants and greenhouses with tropical and equatorial plants.

American Academy in Rome
The American Academy in Rome is one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in Italy. In 1894 he was born in Rome because he was the only city in the world that could offer an atmosphere and context rich in precious models of the past. renowned architects, financial geniuses, culture archaeologists and men gave birth to a real cultural salon that even today, thanks to the Rome Prize fellowships, supports each year up to thirty artists and scholars, who live and work in a culturally stimulating and international atmosphere. The central body of the academy was made by a study of American architects in the early twentieth century, with a garden dominated by the fountain designed by the American artist Manship. The villa also features an elegant library, exhibition halls, common areas for scholars, a courtyard full of archaeological finds and a vast green park in the Gianicolo frame.

Villa Aurelia
Desired by Cardinal Girolamo Farnese around 1650, the villa stood on some aurelian ruins and on the remains of Pope Paul III's vineyard. The cardinal disappeared in 1668, passed to the dukes of Parma and in 1731 to the Bourbon of Naples

We had a great stay at Mirellas! She was a kind and welcoming host and the communication was always great! The room was clean and had a small kitchen corner where you can make coffee and cook. Some people before us complained about the cold shower but after finding a switch over the small table the shower was perfectly hot! The location of the studio is great! It is just a few minutes walk to Monti with a lot of bars and cafes, the colosseum and also just 5 minutes to Termini. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would recommend it anytime.

The host was very nice and brought wine, croissants and sandwiches for us. The room they gave us however was not the room we had booked. The replacement room overlooked a very busy street which was extremely noisy and caused trouble sleeping.

Marco is a pure delight! The room is an easy walk from Roma Termini, with lots of good places nearby for food, drink and sightseeing. We were only in Roma for one night, but Marco still greeted us warmly with a bottle of wine and pastries in the morning. Would absolutely stay at his place again!

Saludos Marco! Nos vemos.
