Sea Glass: when we found her she was abandoned and over grown with trees and over run with animals. We dusted her of and now she shines The captains room windows overlook quaker hill

What people love:

*large outdoor spaces
*new kitchens and baths
*great for jogging or walking, lots of sidewalks
*unique historical property
*family environment

Things to note:
*older home, can be drafty, lots of character
*located about 3 miles off the exit, away from downtown in a rustic setting
*strongly suggest using a gps
*no central air but there are window units in all except the captains room
*shared bath

The Captains room (this listing and booking) offers 2 built in twin beds. There is also some room for younger ones traveling with parents. This room was the original owners sleeping porch and is full of windows and can be a little drafty but a wonderful room with a view! The room is located in the front of the house. There’s always a space heater in the room if it’s drafty.
Built in the early 1900’s Sea Glass is historically unique with 9’ ceilings and listed on the National Historic registry as a Colonial Revival, with baths and the kitchen redone in 2010. All living areas have been updated and completed, however we’re always taking on more projects. Close to the Coast Guard Academy, Casinos, colleges and public transportation.
The home has a unique history and was even a nursing home at one time. At one time, there was a wine cellar in the basement, beautiful gardens in the back, a large gazebo behind the house in the woods and functioning servant’s quarters in the attic. The old owners were such garden enthusiasts that they used cold boxes outside with electricity running to them for early planting.
It is a beautiful neighborhood nestled in the heart of historic Quaker Hill. Many of our neighbors will wave to you while you stroll around on wide sidewalks taking in the beautiful turn-of-the-century homes.

All bedrooms are on the second floor. Our family consists of myself, layla the puggle and my six year old son.

The wrap around porch looks out over a large front yard and to relax after dinner, a hike, antiquing, or the bustle of the casino. There are plenty of places inside and out to read or relax. Feel free to explore the stream past the barn

Our family lives on site and are usually around and are happy to give local advice.

-sidewalks for miles in both directions. Very safe neighborhood

The Yellow Cab company as well as others is just a phone call away and it's about a $20 fare to Mohegan sun.
We're about 4 miles away from the new London train station and also have a main bus line called the SEAT.

Uber is available in the area as well and our choice.

We live in a rural/rustic area. Down town and the casinos are a straight shot in either direction and about 6-12 minutes away.

We're early risers and have a toddler that enforces it. He's well behaved but does make "child noises" :)

Coffee, morning munchies and fresh eggs are provided. You are welcome to cook yourself breakfast-if we are around we're happy to pitch in!

This AIR BNB IS BEAUTIFUL but if you have more than two adults look at other bedrooms in their house / other listings.

Slept so well - nice sheets and comforters. Monique was super friendly and the coffee and offer of fruit and eggs was so nice. We went to a concert at night and got back late and slept in until 8. Great place to sleep.

The location was perfect for our concert at the Mohegan Sun. Monique is very nice and her accommodations are perfect. We were comfortable and had everything we needed. Monique was great about communicating with us prior to arrival. I would stay here again and definitely recommend it!

Another great stay at Monique's house. It's a perfect stop-over place for us for an annual trip with our dog- very easy and comfortable. The Captains room is a bit warm on the hottest of summer days (no air conditioner in here due to the type of windows) so that should be kept in mind, but the fan provided does keep the air moving which is helpful.

I wasn't feeling well when we got there so I didn't have much chance to get to know them, but the house is beautiful and roomy. Bob was helpful and welcoming.

We love having guests and friends in our home. I have a young son and a few indoor animals. We love hanging out in our home or around our 2 acres. With our older home there's always something to do. In the summer we're always outdoors, in the winter we're around our wood stove or outside gathering wood. I both love all types of music especially Irish and both play the fife. I love our indoor animals and always have something going on!

When you come into out home you become part of our extended family and all the fun that goes with that. However, there's plenty of room if you' like your own space and we may be out and about ourselves!

For Guests reading about us prior to submitting a Reservation Request:

• Airbnb is a trusted community marketplace with a mission to connect each Guest with an ideally matched Host. As a Guest, you can better your chances of an approval by posting a profile photo and a bit about yourself (and also who you are traveling with if that applies).

• Writing about yourself is especially important if you are requesting to book a Private Room listing. Your Host wants to know you, and you will want to know your Host, not just for safety but for your own sanity’s sake. You are going to be living with each other for at least a night if not longer.

• A novel of your life story isn't necessary; just write about what you think someone meeting you for the first time would want to know. If you can’t think of anything to write, think about what you would want to say to your Host if they knew nothing about you and you were meeting them for the first time at the front door of their fantastic place. You’d be really excited about staying there. I might say something like, “Hi I’m Glenn and I’m from Texas...” That’s your profile. Write that.

• A COMPLETE PROFILE includes a written statement about who you are, a recent photo of your face (dog or cat optional), and a verified email address and phone number. Doing these small things will increase the odds of an approved booking by tenfold. This is true for inquiries you make of any Host, not only me.

• VERIFY YOUR ID. You are going to be required to do this eventually, so do it now while you aren't pressed for time. It only takes a few minutes and it shows you value trust in our community. (See https://www.airbnb.com/help/question/450 for more information about Verified ID.)

And finally...

• We have Homes, not Hotels. When you send a message on Airbnb, you are communicating with an individual host, not a bored clerk at a reservation desk. Please do not send messages like, "NEED ASAP. WILL PAY NO MORE THAN $100. CALL ME." If that’s the case, you need a hotel. Please find one. If this were your home, how would you respond to this request?
