Cozy yellow cottage with private location by lake Kalven. Relax in the lush and sunny garden, go for walks in the surrounding forest, or take the row boat out and go for a swim. Enjoy a break from city-life and experience the tranquility of nature!
Approx. 20 kilometers in each direction from small towns Tranås and Gränna, and a 2 km departure from the main road driving down a winding gravel road through fields and forrest, lays this charming little cottage in a private and truly picturesque setting surrounded by forest.
The cottage has all basic commodities such as electricity, hot water, and a fireplace. You enter to a bedroom with whitewashed walls, wood floors, a small but comfortable bed for two... plenty of pillows and brand new duvets are at the guests disposal. The adjoining room holds a spacious kitchen with a large mordern stove/oven, a dining area with an antique folding table, and a livingroom area with a sofabed that converts into two individual beds. The fireplace makes for cozy evenings and also keeps the place perfectly warm in spring/autumn. Attached to the side of the house (i.e access from the outside, not directly from indoors) is a newly renovated, lovely outdoor shower (with warm water, of course) and a new waterless toilet.
There is a porch, and two patios (one to the back of the house, and a smaller one next to the shed) featuring soft, luxurious gravel. There is nice and comfortable outdoor furniture, a hammock and a small barbecue. The garden has a large lawn, as well as plenty of flowers, and also some wild areas. In spring and autumn the lake is fully visible from all the garden and from inside the house, during summer it is partly visible. The only thing separating the property from the lake is a small gravel road and a strip of land approximately 50 meters wide, where sometimes during summer sheep are grazing.

-As of mid May 2016 we will now have a nice large row boat down by the lake. It fits 4 comfortably, and it will be included at no extra charge! Please bear in mind, as the oars are wooden they should be stored up in the shed, thanks.
-There are plenty of pillows and new, fresh duvets, as well as extra wool blankets.
-We provide basic supplies such as toilet paper, shampoo and hand soap. There is usually salt, spices, oil/vinegar, and a variety of condiments, and sometimes coffee. Guests are also welcome to pick fresh herbs from the garden... we normally have 7-8 or so different herbs growing in the beds around the boulder in front of the house.
-There is a Barbecue, and there might be coal and lighter fluid, in which case guests are very welcome to help themselves to it!
-There is no TV, but there is a set of decent computer speakers for watching films etc from a laptop.
-Fishing poles are in the garden shed.
-There is a mosquito screen that can be fitted into the bedroom window.... comes in handy on those warm summer nights.

Ideally we would like to be able to greet each guest in person upon their arrival at the cabin, but as we have a 3,5 hour drive from our home in Malmö, and taking into account work and other daily commitments, this is usually not possible.
However, we strive to structure things in such a way so as to make arrival and departure as easy and comfortable as possible for our guests; we make sure the place is well prepared, we have a simple solution for allowing guests to let them selves in, and we will send a video clip that shows how to drive the last 2 kilometers from the main road up to the house. And of course, we make sure that we are always reachable... be it by phone, email and Airbnb messages.
-No smoking indoors. Outdoors (including on the porch) is fine of course, but please dispose of ashes and cigarette butts. Thanks!
-Most of the outdoors furniture can be left outdoors regardless of rain etc, but the white rattan set is a bit more sensitive, and should be put back inside the shed when not in use.
-Preferably no shoes indoors.
-Upon departure, please: empty the refrigerator, empty all bins/garbage, close all windows, lock the door, and leave the place tidy please.
I live in Malmö, Sweden, together with my girlfriend Lourdes. Since about a year I am working on starting up a brand of chandeliers and luminaires, and my girlfriend has had a long career within dance. We have both traveled lots, and have both lived abroad for several years. During our trips we have been on the other side of this as short-term tenants /guests, so we both agree that it feels like a natural step to offer our own place up for guests.
We bought the cottage six years ago. Last year we started giving it a complete makeover, and so far we have accomplished a fair bit -painting indoors and outdoors, new floors and wallpaper, two patios and also some paths through the garden, renovated the shower + toilet, and lots of other projects. Still, as we really enjoy the work, we have lots more planned for the years to come.
We are really excited for others to come and enjoy this beautiful place, the lake and the nature surrounding it, and we will work hard to be the best possible hosts and for our guests to have an amazing vacation...
