Dear Guests, FOR WOMEN ONLY. A lovely private room in a large loft (converted factory) in downtown Manhattan near Union Square. For someone who seeks quiet in the city. Accessible to all of NYC

a small gorgeous room decorated with antique desk, beautiful fabrics, shoji screen window, internet and privacy for single person in a shared loft downtown near Union Square. Two cats and a large eat in kitchen make this a perfect place to discover Manhattan in a restful and beautiful way.

There are two cats in the apartment. they are friendly and do not sleep or go in the room.

The neighborhood is fabulous. Near Union Square, markets, movies, restaurants, and most trains.

the bedroom is beautifully decorated like a balinese room with cloths and shoji screen. The loft is unique. Far more room and privacy than most NY places, even though there is a shared bathroom and kitchen. The old building is classic artist living in Manhattan with a two floor walk up.

Laura was a wonderful host. I was in NY for work and mostly out and coming late evenings. So it was a great place to rest. The floor makes squeaky sounds, so It was a bit hard to make my way in without making a sound. She has 2 friendly cats)) And there is no elevator and there are pretty stip stairs going up to the apartment so be prepared especially if you have a big luggage!!

Dear Simret, You were a wonderful guest. Thank you so much for staying here. I am sure I told you at the start about the reality of squeaky floors and it did not bother anyone at all. It is true that there are two flights walk up and cats which is clearly spelled out in the description. I will note for the next guests that heavy luggage has to hauled up the steps. thanks for your note about it.

The 4 days that I spent in the walk-up loft near Union Square were so much fun and also relaxing. My room was decorated with lovely scarfs and colorful pillows. The bed was comfy and the room was very quiet & peaceful. Everything went smoothly and I will definitely stay here next time I visit New York City. The hostess, Laura greeted me with a warm hug & I felt like we were fast friends. She even have tea & muffins in the morning & helped me make reservations when I needed some help!!

Best location in East Village. Old style artist's place, just as described. Laura made her best to help me check in and have a good experience while being there. One should like cats, though.

Dear MIchelle, Thank you for staying with me. That is primary. I knew that you definitely needed a place to rest since you were not feeling quite well and you had complaints about your work. Firstly, I told you that I was giving you a different room - a larger room - usually more expensive -that was closer to kitchen and bathroom. So the photos were different. Also, I am taking care of what is a problem in the whole building and so I apologize for the odors (beyond normal problem with cats). Our building manager is away and we have not had anyone to help us figure out what is going on under the floor boards which may be a result of leaking in the last rain storm. Secondly, I had a very hard time with your check in and attempted to make it possible for you to arrive at a good time. I usually do not write about these dilemnas since mostly I feel people misjudge airbnb. And I would never want to cause you any problem with finding another host. You changed arrival time nearly four times. It says clearly that I do not have check in until after 11 am. You announced you were coming at 8 am the evening before which was not going to work out. Then that you would arrive between 6 -7 pm or maybe later. Then at 5:30 pm. I changed my plans to accomodate you and you literally arrived an hour an a half earlier announcing you were on the street when I was not home or ready to welcome you. I swiftly returned home and then contacted you that I was able to open the door. I am so sorry that you were not happy in our home. It is an old building with many problems, and a great location and charm. I will attempt best I can to eliminate all odors and any dust. I did find dust under your bed and have thoroughly recleaned. I asked you every day if you needed anything - if you wanted me to clean, change sheets, give new towels, even have food for you. And each time you said, no. I wish you well. In fact, i though you were a very deeply feeling and warm person with great intelligence and was happy to host you. I take complaints very seriously and will attempt to do what I can including make even more clear the realities of the old factory building. with blessings, Laura

I spent a month in the city for a hospital rotation. Coming back home to Laura's place was always so relaxing for me after hectic days in the hospital! Very spacious living space and perfect location between Union and Washington square parks. I used the subway daily and had more than a few stations to choose from less than a 5-minute walk away. Right next to Strand bookstore, grocery stores, and coffee shops. I will definitely look to her place again the next time I'm in the city!

I am quiet, a writer, and love sharing my home. I keep out of the way of renters, hoping they will enjoy their time in New York and my home. But am always available for questions, help and conversations. I am an avid reader of novels, poetry and books on myth and spirituality. As a host I am friendly, helpful and not very present. I respect privacy, simplicity , beauty and taking good care of the room and house. The location of the room is fantastic for the city. There is always fresh coffee available and teas , filtered water, flowers and a spacious shared kitchn to hang out in.
