I stayed with Lane twice as I made my transition back to LA after many years away. Lane provides a welcoming, relaxing and peaceful place to stay, virtually equidistant from just about every place you would want to go in LA. Lane’s house is classical and pretty, and has a nice atmosphere, with a cute garden. Lane knows the city well and can provide a lot of great advice on how to get around and get the best deals. Lane is also a great person to just hang out with and chat. You’ll feel at home as soon as you arrive and get a real taste of life in LA. Regards, N"

Welcome to my home.
I've been inviting people into my home since October 2004. I have been fortunate to have met interesting and wonderful people from around the world.
It is my intention for you feel comfortable and at home here during your stay. Every house and person has idiosyncrasies. Below are some guidelines to inform you and help you to feel more at ease during your visit. They are not meant as rules but to give you an idea of my preferences and/or how the house works. It looks like a lot but only takes 5 minutes to read through. If you see a better way to do something let me know!
First, if there is an issue, problem, or discomfort, please communicate with me so we can attempt to resolve it.
STREET CLEANING DAYS are Wednesdays and Thursdays between 8-11 a.m. Please note the street signs and park appropriately to avoid receiving a ticket (around $45.00). You may park in the driveway if you are unable to find street parking the night before. Please be aware that I usually need to leave by 8:45 on Tuesday & Thursday mornings.
Please keep outside doors locked at all times, even if you are inside. Okay…this is a rule.
Please take your meals in the dining room, kitchen or garden. No food in your room please.
You are responsible for the order and cleanliness of your room and bathroom.
It may be necessary for me to show the rooms to prospective tenants. I will never enter or show your room without informing you by least the day before.
(Likewise my office and bedroom are my private space.)
Please wash the sheets & towels at least every 2 weeks.
Laundry: Please leave $1.00 per load
Doorknobs on the bathroom and bedrooms doors are noisy at night please do your best to use them gently & quietly.
Please wear only soft soled shoes or socks/slippers in the house.
This is the guest bathroom and though you will be the primary user of it, if there is company they will also be using it. Please keep it clean and tidy.
Guests staying more than one week are responsible for their own facial and toilet tissue.
Los Angeles is a desert and we are currently in extreme drought conditions; conserving water is a necessity. City recommendations:
•Be aware of water usage.
•Please turn the water off while brushing your teeth instead of letting it run.
•Likewise while washing dishes.
•One shower per day; please try to keep them under 10 minutes. I would be delighted if you used the bucket to catch the cold water while it gets warm for your shower.
•2 loads of laundry per week per person. Please refrain from doing laundry during peak hours; peak hours are 6-8 a.m. & 4-8 p.m. (This is an energy & water conservation request by the city.)
I try to be environmentally conscious, to that end I request the following and hope you will appreciate contributing to the health of our planet:
•In general please be conscious and sensitive about energy use and create ways to be more efficient.
•Please turn off the lights in your room if you're not in it.
•Likewise please unplug any chargers, computers or other technology when not in use. It is an amazing amount of energy that can be saved if we all do this.
THE CATS - mrrohwww
You've likely already met Bear and maybe Pimm.
Bear is not allowed on the table or counters even if she tries to convince you otherwise with her presence there.
These are indoor cats so please don't let either cat outside or leave the front door open for them to wander out.
They are cute when they beg but are on a special diet so please don't feed them.
Bear has a penchant for chewing plastic bags and sometimes electronic cords so it is best not to leave these lying around as she will not be responsible (nor I) for their replacement.
The deposit you have paid is to cover cleaning and any damage incurred during your visit. It is my intention for you to fairly receive your money back and for me to not have to pay for any damage that might have occurred. To that end the nominal cleaning fees are as follows:
$15.00 per bedroom
$15.00 per bathroom
If you'd rather not clean the rooms before you depart you will pay a total fee of $30.00.
Bedroom cleaning includes: vacuuming (if your stay has been more than 2 weeks)and dusting, removing linens from bed.
Bathroom cleaning includes: scrubbing shower, sink and toilet and wiping down counter surfaces.
Lost key fee is $175.00. This is the locksmith fee for re-keying the lock.
Hopefully nothing will get broken during your visit. I understand that accidents happen and I am grateful for your honesty in taking responsibility for such an occurrence.
Thanks for reading through this and again, welcome! I am looking forward to getting to know you.

I love to travel and meet people from around the world. My interests are wide ranging and include environmental & social issues, cultural exchange & global communications, education, photography, gourmet cooking and gardening. I believe cultivating happiness within is the most empowering choice in life even while it initially appears to be the most challenging. Finding happiness regardless of circumstances and what others around us are doing or saying, allows us to soar to the ever-changing best of who we are.
