This is a cozy, comfy, clean place however Starbucks is not around the corner, wildlife wander through on a daily basis. Our place is located on an active farm that is surrounded by wilderness at the base of the Selkirk Mountains. We have had numerous return guests who rave about our unique spot and come back year after year, most of these folks stayed with us long before airbnb existed.

Feel free to call us and ask questions, we are proud of our acreage and our way of life, city life it ain't but that's the beauty of this place and we wouldn't want it any other way.

Great place and terrific location. Super clean and roomy. Very retro 70s vibe! Pam and Fred are fabulous hosts- available and responsive but not intrusive. Fresh farm eggs were a great treat. Would definitely stay here again.

Pam and Fred's place was fabulous for us (a family of five with three full grown lads) the house has everything you could need, and is in a wonderful location for exploring a stunning area. We wish we could have stayed for longer, there is so much around to see and do. Highlights of our stay included campfires in the garden under the stars, wild deer wandering past, the short trip to and fro on the cable ferry each day - stunning views and never a wait of more than a few minutes, canoeing up and down the river in the early evening - not to mention the mountain zipwire, Ainsworth Hot Springs and beautiful Kaslo - and there is so much we missed. The water is every bit as delicious as Fred said it would be, and the gift of fresh eggs was a lovely touch. We couldn't have wished for more welcoming and helpful hosts. I am so glad we opted for Harrop hideaway rather than stay in Nelson. I hope I get the chance to visit again!

My 3 friends and I decided on this place for our annual girls weekend. It's the perfect location, being halfway between Nelson and AInsworth Hot Springs. The rental itself definitely has a retro vibe as listed, but it was SO SPOTLESSLY CLEAN with all the modern conveniences, including WiFi. For those driving up from Washington State as we did, be aware that once you hit the border, we found out the hard way that you are off the grid as far as texting and calls go and can only communicate via WiFi through (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), etc. Because of this, we had a comical check in experience. I told Pam and Fred I would text them once I got to Nelson (which I couldn't do), so although they had been watching for us, they didn't know we had arrived. Their property IS connected to the rental with a dividing gate that has a sign on it about bio-security, so we didn't go in. We walked around a little and when they finally saw us, we found out that the bio-security are chickens, as well as a big, floppy puppy and a couple of pugs who may lick you to death. Pam and Fred were friendly and amazing hosts. They gifted us with a dozen fresh eggs as well as tomatoes from their garden, they recommended places for us to visit in the area, and they were very accessible and responsive when we had questions. It was a truly perfect weekend away and a nice change of pace living off the grid and having to communicate with people the old fashioned face to face way. This place is definitely out in the sticks, so I recommend those of you driving from Washington State to print out all of your directions ahead of time and stop off in Nelson to pick up some groceries. I highly recommend staying here if you're looking to escape the rat race for a bit and visit a beautiful, peaceful place that moves at a slower pace. It's only about a 3.5- 4 hour drive from Spokane and well worth the trip. I would love to take my husband there someday, hopefully in the not so distant future. Thanks Pam and Fred for a wonderful stay!

The listing and other comments are very accurate. It's rustic, the decor is delightfully 70s, and the surroundings are totally peaceful. Great place for our family of 5. Our 7-year-old says, "It was super awesome and we built a fort there!" Her sister says, "I loved the bed, it's so comfortable, and I wish I could live there!" The hosts are wonderful; we loved the gift of eggs. Just be aware you have to allow 45 minutes to get to Nelson.

This is an incredible place to go for a getaway. Me and my friends went to Pam's perfect hideaway for a last adventure before our friend moved to the U.S and it was more than that. It's such a cozy place which you have to take a ferry to get too. It's close to the hot springs and so many trails and parks. I recommend anyone to stay here at this perfect place with great hosts who can accommodate any of your needs. Thank you again Pam!
