Are you looking for a place you can get away from it all, experience Alaska, the Bush AND island living?
Come to an Aleutian island!
We are located in the remote town of False Pass, Alaska, on Unimak Island, the easternmost island in the Aleutian chain. The Alaska peninsula is just across the sea from us. Air service to the island is provided by Grant Air. Peninsula Airways (PenAir for short) flies from the city of Anchorage, AK, to Cold Bay, AK, then Grant flies a 5-seat airplane for a 20 minute ride over the tundra (look for bears and caribou!) and across the pass to the island.
Our house is right on the water, a quick walk (about a quarter mile) from the harbor.
Amenities are, like our town, simple but will warm you up. :)
I set out breakfast things - coffee, tea, cereal, milk, oatmeal packets, etc - but will feed you something more hearty if you ask! I love a good cup of coffee and always have it on hand, as well as several kinds of tea (green, black, and herbal choices). I also usually have fresh eggs thanks to the happy hens in the backyard chicken coop. You are welcome to cook in my kitchen, as well!
If you call me before your flight in from Cold Bay, I can easily meet you at the airstrip when you come in on the airplane, as it is a good 20-25 minute walk from the airstrip all the way to the house. I can also meet you at the dock if you come in via the semi-weekly state ferry, the M/V Tustamena, which you can ride starting all the way from Homer, Alaska, along the Aleutian chain to all the way out to Dutch Harbor. (Check the Alaska . gov website for specific schedule information.)
There is not a window in this house with a bad view!
The house has two bedrooms and one shared space available for guests.
This listing is specifically for the north room upstairs. Two beds in this room, one queen and one twin, made up with clean linens. There is space in the dresser for your things.

The guest bedrooms are upstairs and share the house shared bathroom downstairs. I keep it clean! We also keep an assortment of clean towels for your use, and soap. Please bring your favorite shampoo though!
The kitchen is available for you to use, and there is always a supply of breakfast things for the mornings (coffee, tea, cereal, packs of oatmeal).
The dining room, living room, and porch are all open for the guests to hang out and relax. We even have tv on the days the weather is good (bad weather can mess with the satellite signal) - but who wants to stay inside on the nice days?

I live here with my daughter, Jana, son-in-law, Stephen, and my little granddaughter! My room is downstairs, whereas the guest spaces are upstairs. I am sure we will see each other at some point during the day if you come hang out downstairs, but we don't hang out upstairs except for changing/cleaning linens (and Jana and Stephen and the little one going to their rooms).

We have a goat named Champagne. (We didn't name her.) She is not allowed in the house (she has her own house).
