Der Wohnraum

This space is in a private house in one of Brooklyn's most quietly cool neighborhoods, populated by working artists, families from all over the world. People care about this area, and take care of it, and each other.

The room is pretty large by Brooklyn standards (17ft by 13ft, with 8ft ceilings,) with a comfy queen size bed, a writing desk, and a charming (non-working) fireplace.

Zugang für Gäste

In the room, guests will have access to the writing desk with computer speakers and a printer/scanner.

Out in the apartment, we have a spacious, sunlit kitchen with a designated shelf in the refrigerator, a working washer and dryer, and stove and oven. The apartment has a bath-and-ahalf, which is clean and has good water pressure and heat. We also have a lovely backyard patio to relax on.

I will be working in Getmany in this period, though if you are staying the whole time I'm gone, I should be able to hand off keys and give you the lay of the land on the arrival day and see you off on the departure day. (Assuming our airline schedules get along.)

There are three other residents of the house, one of whom I will appoint to answer any questions that might come up, and let you in and/or get keys from you upon your departure. They are all considerate working professionals (everyone here's at least 30 years old) and you'll scarcely see them during your stay.

This is a house full of musicians; professional, doing-it-for-a-living musicians, not dudes living out a rock band fantasy. People practice occasionally in the house (and use a basement rehearsal space from time to time) which you can sometimes hear in the bedroom, but it's no more bothersome than someone watching a movie in the next room.

(Audible) musical activities are limited to between 10am and 10pm. Cleaning happens directly after meals in the kitchen, and laundry is to be collected shortly after it's ready.

- nette Mitbewohner - direkt an der Metro, allerdings relativ weit von Manhattan entfernt (30-40min) - Zimmer war leider nicht so sauber (beispielsweise keine frische Bettwäsche)

We stayed at James' during four days. The apartment was located in a fantastic area of Brooklyn, possibly the closest to the subway Q line you could ever expect. Near our apartment was plenty of cafes and a organic coop grocery. We found James' room was super clean, freshly cleaned bed sheets and towels were availabl and the WIFI signal was good. Although James was in Germany while our stay, he gave us every information we needed and made sure he was available to answering questions through (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). Great experience, I would definitely recommand!

James was very responsive host and the speed of his response and price of his accommodation was part of the main deciding factors as to why we booked his space, along with the good reviews. The space is also located in transit accessible, chill family area part of Brooklyn. James was a good remote host and was clear in giving detailed instructions, and made himself readily available to us no matter the hour or distances when any questions arose. It’s a musical household, with lots of friendly and accommodating folk. If there was any issues James housemates went above and beyond to help fix it. The affordability of the place was great, the location and so was the relaxed access to the kitchen, food storage and cooking utensils. When traveling with food allergies having the space to cook our own food makes a huge difference. The house was tidy, yet the little thing that was a bit of an issue was the level of cleanliness in the bedroom. Upon arrival it felt very much like staying in a bachelor pad, after washing the bed sheets, towels and pillowcases (that still held the scents of our host) it was much easier to settle in. It’s an affordable, relaxed, spacious environment, with a friendly and accessible remote host. I would recommend James place to other travellers who are looking for a relaxed place to stay in a chill neighborhood in New York.

I washed all towels, sheets, and pillowcases the very day of Ms Mohamed's arrival, as I have done for all of my guests. (There is a washer and dryer in the apartment.)

James was a nice and communicative host and though he was away during our stay he always made sure we were ok and had everything we needed. The room was as described and in a great area close to lots of cool cafes and restaurants and literally around the corner from the Metro, a really great spot to stay in Brooklyn!
