Tranquil cottage set back from the clifftops by the sea in the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and only a short stroll from the famous Pembrokeshire coastpath. Everybody loves it here. It is so peaceful, particularly at night with dark starry skies. Your comfortable double room looks out over the rolling hills and sea beyond. We are around sometimes, or leave everything you need for a relaxing holiday. If you book for more than 3 people you will have the whole cottage to yourselves!

Der Wohnraum

Iet-yr-Eithin, Welsh for 'Gorse Gate', is an idyllic country cottage on the beautifully wild and rugged Strumble Head Peninsula in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Footpaths lead directly from the front door in all directions including directly onto the famous Pembrokeshire Coastpath. The house itself has an open plan kitchen, dining and living room upstairs with beautiful views from all the windows. It is a light, airy and sunny space with wooden floors and a large rug by a wood burning stove in the living room. There are lovely sea views from two large living room windows. The kitchen also has two windows, looking out over the hill Garn Fawr on one side and towards Newport village on the other. The 3 downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms are well decorated, cosy and comfortable with thick carpets, and there are slate tiles with underfloor heating in the hallway and bathroom. The house comfortably fits 5 people, with extra room on a double sofa bed upstairs. Just ask if you would like to book more than one room. (2 adults + a child under 5 can fit in the room advertised at present).

Zugang für Gäste

Free to come and go in all areas including the enclosed garden where you can catch the evening sun. Parking is on National Park common land outside.

Interaktion mit Gästen

We are renowned for being friendly welcoming hosts when we are around but as we are both busy working we may not be there all the time. However there will always be somebody on call for you if you should need anything to enhance your holiday experience and we will leave you with full contact details if we happen to be away. A simple self-service country breakfast will be available with consumables in fridge or freezer and a delicious muesli or porridge mix for you to just add milk. You may find that you have the entire cottage to yourselves for a day or two, particularly if you have booked the other rooms.

Weitere wichtige Infos

The House and Garden:
The house runs on Ecotricity with modern night storage heaters plus a log burner in the living room with logs provided. Ecover products are available should you wish to use the dishwasher or washing machine during your stay. You are welcome to venture into the 'Secret Garden' and collect fruit such as figs or damsons which may be growing there in summer, or just sit and enjoy the sunset on the balcony of the wooden shed.

Eating and Drinking:
Outside the front is a seasonal herb garden so help yourselves to fresh mint or lemon balm tea in summer. And there is generally a good supply of rosemary, thyme, marjoram, chives and oregano to spice up any home-cooked meal. There are shops in Fishguard and Goodwick and we can recommend some good restaurants, pubs and cafes in the area.

Other bedrooms:
A cosy single bedroom opposite the double bedroom is also available to rent at a charge of £25 per night (just ask when booking), or only £15 for a third guest. For a child under 3 a travel cot is available at no extra charge (so just tell us after you have booked), and for a child under 5 a camping mat on the floor of the double room is an option at £10 per night.
There is also a kingsize bedroom with private en suite shower room which can be requested at an extra charge of £30 per night if you need more space.

We always find that visitors treat the cottage with the respect they would their own home. We ask that people leave shoes on the shoe rack inside front porch to keep the house clean for everyone to enjoy. Wellies of all sizes are available in the shed and it is advisable to bring thick socks or slippers to wear inside the house. There are wooden floorboards upstairs and slate tiles with underfloor heating downstairs with carpets in the bedrooms. Well-behaved pets are welcome though please don't leave them home alone. No smoking inside the house. Using fans in kitchen and bathroom when cooking or bathing helps keeps condensation to a minimum. Please turn off all electrical items before going out. Many thanks for looking after our cottage. We hope you love it as much as we do :-) Carmen

Tolle Menschen !!! Danke, Carmen und Mike und Senna.

A lovely cottage perfectly located. Extremely comfortable for our family of two adults and three children. Really useful information in the house - and a great starting point for walks and beaches. My husband says if you ever want to sell we're interested!

Prima huis. goed en erg rustig gelegen, geen winkels en restaurant in de buurt, wel veel wandelgelegenheid in mooie natuur. Inrichting goed en volledig. Eettafelstoelen niet erg comfortabel.

Absolutely fabulous home, beautiful location right along the coastal path. Carmen was more than gracious lifting us from town on our arrival so we didn't have to carry our luggage up the hill. Very thoughtful and anticipated our every need. Loved our stay here, the perfect cozy home to unwind in after a day exploring the beautiful views. Highly recommend!

Carmen's place is absolutely wonderful! I didn't want to leave! It's such a warm and welcoming home. I honestly couldn't have been happier in this beautiful and tranquil cottage. It's a trezillion percent cosy and comfortable, and spotlessly clean. There are gardens to sit in at the front and back of the house, so you can take advantage of the sun whatever time of day it is. I had my breakfast in the back garden in the mornings, and a cuppa in the late afternoon sun at the front of the house ... usually accompanied by the three moggies that live in the Secret Garden. Don't miss an opportunity to go and find 'em. I think they'll love you forever if you take them some milk :D Coastal walks are practically on the doorstep! (I'm no good at reading an OS map, so I took a quick drive into Fishguard and picked up a few maps of circular walks from Tourist Information, which were 50p each.) The views are absolutely beautiful, and I was lucky enough to see seals in one of the bays. The walks, the views, the magnificence of the sea, the fresh air, definitely give you that "great to be alive" feeling. I'm sure I spent the whole time smiling :D If you're happy to spend evenings at home, as I was, the kitchen has everything you need to prepare your meals ... apart from food, of course ;) Although, having said that, free range eggs, milk, butter, and a lovely organic oats & seeds mix had been left for me for breakfast, which was lovely. The weather for my week was extremely good for the time of year; beautiful and sunny during the day, but a little chilly in the evenings, so having a woodburner was perfect, and I had my first experience of lighting a fire. The nights are so dark, and the stars are so bright! Don't forget to look up to see the amazingness above you! There are many books, CDs and games upstairs in the lounge so, if you decide to spend time indoors, you definitely won't be at a loss for something to do. If, like me, you don't get to meet Carmen and Mike, I think being in their cottage will give you a very good feeling of what utterly gorgeous souls they must be. I had a completely perfect holiday, and I'm sure you will, too :D Thank you, Carmen and Mike, for sharing your gorgeous home with us Airbnbers. Especially first-timers, like me :D xxx

Carmen is lovely. Her home is minutes walk from the Pembrokeshire coast path. She's really friendly and easy to talk to. Very helpful too - they helped us find the path from their house and we even saw seals. They had many helpful recommendations. We loved staying there and we think you will too.
