Janet is an AMAZING host! This was hands down, the BEST Airbnb experience I've ever had (I've been using Airbnb for years now)
Check in and check out was seamless. Janet greeted us and introduced us to the property. She messaged me before our stay asking how we like our coffee & tea and made sure to stock the mini-fridge with whatever we needed. We had milk, OJ, water (flat & sparkling), and even salami (which we paired nicely with crackers and local cheese from a shop down the road). She also left us with a big basket of snacks including delicious crackers, fruits, trail mix, cookies, etc. It was all so incredibly thoughtful! Pro tip: if you're driving up from SF or something, feel free to bring some wine! Janet has glassware, bottle openers, and anything else you'd need to enjoy your stay! Otherwise, there's a market in Occidental ~5 min away with a small selection of wine.
After checking us in, Janet left and we had the property all to ourselves for our stay. The living space is beautifully designed and every detail of the interior seemed to be carefully curated and well thought out. There's no cheap IKEA stuff to be found! I wish my own home was this nice!
Let me say that this place is breathtakingly beautiful! It's definitely the most unique Airbnb I've stayed in. I've never stayed at such a beautiful place (hotel or airbnb)! You get a gorgeous view of the vineyards from bed, from the pool, from the jacuzzi. We were blessed with perfect sunny weather and took full advantage of the pool & jacuzzi during our stay. One thing I wasn't expecting, but was very pleasantly surprised about was the lavender bushes on the property! There's a little private garden with them and they're also by the pool/jacuzzi. We stayed in October so they were just about done for the season, but we still caught glimpses of the lovely lavender fragrance :)
We spent the majority of our time relaxing on the property, but did venture out to Occidental to have dinner at Hazel and pick up some wine at the market. The pizza at Hazel is delicious. We went down to a bakery and cheese shop ~5 min away the next morning to pick up some food for breakfast. Note: both places are closed Tues, Wed, Thurs so you might want to be prepared if you're staying on those days.
As others have said, the connection is spotty out here, but you should really be here to relax and get off the grid. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time celebrating his birthday here and I can't wait to return in the future! If you're on the fence, BOOK IT! You won't regret it!
