Bari to Castel del Monte

This is a tricky one there is no direct connections between Bari and Castel del Monte . First you will have to take a train to Andria then a bus form Andria to Castel del Monte .
The Andria-Castel del Monte bus service is the number 6, which only runs in summer months (April or May to September or October, depending on what timetable you believe). Buses run several times a day, and stop just outside the railway station in Andria. The journey takes around half an hour.

Here is the time table please check for updates on website

Taxis and private hire
If the bus timetables don't suit your plans, a more flexible option is to hire a taxi. In Andria there is a firm called Tourist Speedy Transfer which offers a private shuttle service to the castle. They will either take you one way for €30 or make a return trip for €50 allowing you an hour to see the castle. The telephone numbers are + (mobile numbers) and + (fixed line). The latest information for the service is featured on the town council website- check this for updates.

Not far form Monopoli, the Caves of Castellana open in south-eastern Murge, a limestone plateau dating back to the upper Cretaceous (ninety- one hundred million years ago) and rising 330 metres above sea level. The area of Castellana is characterized by limestone, a sedimentary rock composed largely of calcium carbonate, known as Limestone of Altamura. Ostuni is regarded as an architectural jewel, and is commonly referred to as "the White Town". The region has been inhabited since the Stone age. The town is reputed to have been originally established by the Messapii, a pre-classic tribe, and destroyed by Hannibal during the Punic Wars. It was then re-built by the Greeks, the name Ostuni deriving from the Greek Astu néon ("new town").

Taranto is Puglia hidden treasure. Despite the devastating industrial debacle fallen on the city thanks to the menacing “ILVA”, it remains one of the most precious hidden treasure of the regions, this reminding us the need to protect our land and heritage rather then giving into industrial speculations.

A MUST visit the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto home of one of the richest collection of Greek, roman and Apulian (Magiagrecia) artifacts including the famus “Ori di Taranto”

If you have a soft spot for extremely well done ceramics you might what to visit Grottagle. Since the Middle Ages, Grottaglie has been known for the production of Italian pottery and especially for its functional ceramics: large jars, pitchers, urn and pots.
