There must be a few qualifiers to this review. My four-star rating has nothing to do with any negative experience I had with Marc personally. To the contrary, he was always quick to respond and pleasant to deal with. The star I removed was for the apartment itself and the location. Let me explain. First of all, the pros: - The kitchen is and the bathroom was much bigger and better than I expected. Even looking at the photos I didn’t get the true sense of them. For a New York apartment, they are excellent. - The décor of the home is fantastic too. There is a great eclectic flavor to the place. Marc has done a great job decorating his home and his pride in the place is clear every direction you look. - The kitchen and bathroom were very well cleaned when we arrived. - The washer/dryer combo in the kitchen is a new model. It’s easy to use and works well. Now the cons: - The place is really pretty dirty. I know that we weren’t staying in a hotel and I didn’t expect hotel levels of cleanliness. That being said, the large build-ups of dust around furniture and on most of the surfaces was pretty bad. - The area is pretty sketchy. I know that this is a subjective judgement and we didn’t get hassled or mugged or anything like that. So apart from my feelings, I’ve included some objective points of what I mean (would be great if you could include photos too). The entrance to the park directly across from the building had a homeless man under a big pile of stuff permanently camped out on one of the benches right near it for the entire 3 weeks of our stay. Expect to see lots of people going through the trash looking for bottles all up and down the street the building is on. The nearest subway (Prospect Ave) is littered with trash and graffiti. The main street just around the corner isn’t somewhere you’d really like to spend a lot time either. Fortunately, Park Slope is only just across the park or a short subway ride away. - The photos are a little misleading and so is the description. The furniture in the apartment has been changed since the photos have been taken. This isn’t a super big deal but it’s worth noting. Also, the listing describes a TV that wasn’t there and “Access includes a large bedroom with walk-in closet for guest's convenience.” The closet was completely full of Marc’s things when we were there, only one drawer was made available for us to use in the nightstand. I asked Marc about the TV and he said it ‘fell off the wall’ just before we got there. Any future guests might want to enquire if the TV has been replaced before you stay. - The building itself is a little sketchy too. Just kind of an old dirty apartment building. There was...

Marc's place is in a very convenient location. Right across the street from beautiful Prospect Park where the Saturday Farmer's Market is a must. It's an easy walk to the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. There is a subway station just 5minutes from the (URL HIDDEN) are in walking distance. Marc's apartment is roomy, very clean and well appointed. The bathroom is new with a great shower. The kitchen is updated with newer counters and appliances and a water filter on the faucet. The mattress is firm for a fabulous night's rest. Sheets and towels are very nice. I appreciated the 2 window air conditioners that made hot NYC weather tolerable!

Our stay at Marc's apartment was wonderful! The apartment itself is beautifully decorated, spacious, and in a very convenient location for spending time in both Brooklyn and Manhattan. The subway is a very short walk from Marc's, which was amazing. You can hear it at night, but it didn't bother us. It was so nice to have a washer/dryer in the apartment as we were on a sports-related business trip. We didn't get to meet Marc as we came into the city late, but he helped us facilitate our arrival in great detail, it was so easy. We hope to stay here again!

The apartment is great. It's big enough for 4 people, it has natural light as well. It's also very well located in front of a beautiful and big park, close to the subway, delis, and lots of cool places to eat. The neighborhood is safe as well. The apartment is also equipped with everything you need as a tourist and nicely decorated.

I am a 45 yr old, single man. I speak English and Spanish fluently and currently studying German. I've been living in New York for the last 20 yrs. Specifically Brooklyn for the last 15 yrs. I live and work as an Independent Artist formally trained in Dance and Choreography. My work is quite eclectic and varies from Freelance Art Directing, Production, Teaching/choreography and my ongoing professional Dance career. I have worked all over the U.S, Europe and Asia and thus travel quite a bit. I've lived abroad in Canada, Spain and England continually quenching my thirst for new cultures and life experiences. Its one of the great perks of my work. I am a stable, down to earth person and very easy to talk to. I also work as a Bartender here in Brooklyn at a very popular restaurant, "Henry Public", so I deal with many different people all the time. Its a skill! Believe me. I've been lucky enough to live on my own in NYC ( not an easy task ) and take a lot of pride in my home. I have stayed in other people's home all over the world and know exactly what its like to be a guest and to be respectful of another's space.
Manhattan is no longer a unique destination for travelers coming to NYC and so I wanted to offer some accommodation. In recent years, Brooklyn has become a favored place to visit, due to its Art, Museums, Restaurants and more it's people. I live across the street from Prospect Park. The largest and most beautiful park in Brooklyn. You can walk out my door and be in green in a few steps. Also, within a 5 minute walk to the subway. My space is warm and welcoming and I'd like to extend it to people who share those same values. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
