Die Unterkunft
There are two cosy bedrooms, both with vaulted ceilings.

A king size bed is in the main bedroom. There are two single beds the smaller bedroom.

Due to the size of the cottage this accommodation is only suitable for a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children.

All beds were brand new when the cottage was refurbished.

There is a lovely modern bathroom upstairs, featuring Fired Earth tiles and a walk-in shower, while downstairs there is a brand new kitchen. It's compact, but it has all the appliances you will need during your stay, including microwave, dishwasher, hob, oven, washing machine and small fridge.

The beamed lounge has an electric 'wood-burner', dining table and chairs, new leather sofa, Smart TV and WiFi.

To the front of the cottage is a small patio with table and chairs, perfect for a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.

The cottage was previously owned by journalist and author Kendall McDonald who wrote a book about the renovation he undertook in the 1970s.

Please note:
Because 'Just a Cottage' is a very old thatched Devon cottage the bedrooms are compact (though they have vaulted ceilings) and the stairs are typically steep, so it is not suitable for children under seven or anyone who is likely to struggle with steep stairs.

The property is also unsuitable for dogs.

Zugang für Gäste
Guests can access the whole cottage. Downstairs the cottage is accessed through the front door which leads straight into the lounge. The lounge leads into the kitchen which has an external door to the alley/rear courtyard. From the lounge there are stairs leading up to the two bedrooms and the bathroom.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
It is important to note that Just a Cottage is small. The ceiling in the lounge downstairs is low. The upstairs is vaulted, so headroom is less of an issue, but floorspace is still limited. The stairs are steep. The kitchen has all essential amenities, but is compact. It has limited storage and fridge space and while it is perfect for preparing light meals, it is not intended for cooking a family Sunday roast.

It's all part of the Devon cottage experience. Just a Cottage is cosy, quaint and charming; and it's how families lived for generations. But in modern terms the space is tight, so it is important for guests to be aware of this before booking their stay.

A village shop and post office (330 yards);

The fabulous Beachhouse Café (0.8 mile);
Gastro buses on both Bantham and South Milton beaches;
The luxury Thurlestone Hotel (330 yards);
Golf and tennis (0.6 mile); and
The South Devon coastal path leading to Hope Cove, Salcombe and Bigbury-on-Sea (0.6 mile).

Burgh Island
A tidal island near the seaside village of Bigbury-on-Sea. The island features the famous Burgh Island Hotel and the Pilchard Inn pub.

Overbeck’s (National Trust), Salcombe
An Edwardian house and garden situated on the outskirts of Salcombe. The subtropical garden has amazing views over the estuary.

Sharpham Vineyard
Situated south of Totnes, overlooking the glorious river Dart, the award-winning Sharpham Vineyard is widely recognised as producing some of England’s most outstanding wines. You can take a self-guided walk through the vines down to the river. They will give you a map so you can follow their suggested routes. Having worked up an appetite you can round your visit off with a mini cheese tasting, £3.00, or mini wine tasting, £7.00.

Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers
These picturesque villages are situated either side of the Yealm estuary. Visit one of the great waterside pubs or enjoy a leisurely walk over land owned by the National Trust.

Totnes
The ancient market town of Totnes lies at the head of the river Dart. It is well worth a visit. It has lots of independent shops, lovely cafes and restaurants on the water. Check out the excellent Drift record shop for some vinyl and a coffee

Dartington
On the edge of the rural Dartington Hall Estate is a retail complex of independent shops and cafes with plenty of parking.
A visit to Dartington is a must. Dartington Hall is home to a complex of arts-based facilities, featuring a theatre, cinema and restaurants.

Sea fishing trips
The south Devon coast offers some fantastic sea fishing opportunities, ranging from short mackerel bashing trips to mid-channel wreck fishing. Chartered fishing trips are available from a number of operators, including Salcombe Angling.
