More suited to the adventurous type people who are looking for a very down to earth experience. Home of Jousting Horses.
Special note!! - As I am usually working on the farm and come in tired, I may, at times, fail to check my emails and potential guests. Please try again!! :-)

Der Wohnraum

Very diverse farm that grows lovely organic food. Meet the cows and try your hand at milking. Select your vegetables from the garden for your super fresh salad. Accommodation is my home with one pleasant bedroom available. It is a very simple design, no fancy Auckland stuff here. Just real down to earth. The room has a comfortable double bed and a single bed. It is suitable for two friends or a couple, with a bed for a child. The rooms look out onto the orchard and garden. There is a beehive with in easy viewing. The house is not 'finished' inside, (work in progress) but it doesn't really matter, as most of the time everybody is outside doing things. The house has the basics that are needed, not flash in any way. Delightful outside solar shower (indoor one also available). Horses wander around the house section and keep the grass down. Discuss the option of having one of these lovely horses for the duration of your stay. Get to know your horse, spend hours with it, and enjoy the fantastic riding areas and beach with your four legged friend. Seahorse Springs is also a horse breeding and training operation, with the horses used for performances and displays.

I am happy to work in what guests want with daily farm chores. As a farming operation, animals needs are a priority. Guests here enjoy watching or participating in activities. Learn where food starts and go through the process to the final product. Make yogurt from the milk you have harvested. If you're really keen you can catch your meal and 'dress' it then cook it....

Vikki was immediately so nice and welcoming. I had never really been on a farm before staying with Vikki and it was such an awesome experience to see everything that goes on. There's always something to do or watch, I got to play with the mountain bike and kayaks, and the nearby beach is absolutely gorgeous. Vikki trained me to ride her horse Scarlett which was a very moving and beautiful experience for me as I had never ridden before. All in all an incredible time that I'll never forget and I'll definitely be coming back.

Our family had a wonderful experience staying with Vikki on her lovely small farm about 3 kms from a very beautiful coastal area around Pataua. Vikki was very welcoming and generous in letting us be part of her busy life, training horses, looking after her livestock, milking her cow and making yogurt and bottling her crop of plums and peaches. We ate out on a campfire most nights and where greeted by the large flock of very friendly chickens, ducks and geese. Vikki lent us two kayaks and drove us to the estuary where we spent a lovely day kayaking. I think you need to be an adaptable person who is not fussy about your accommodation to stay with Vikki. Vikki’s priority is her farm and animals, she is working on upgrading the house but it would not be for everyone. I found it a really authentic experience in a beautiful location and would love to make a return trip. Vikki is a very capable and knowledgeable horse woman and hopefully next time I can go for a ride along the beach .

Our stay on the farm with Vikki was really inspiring. Vikky is such a wonderful, genuine person and made us feel very welcome. We felt at home from day one. Her house guest Ron was excellent too, showing us how to feed the ducks, chickens and geese. We tried to milk a cow, drank fresh milk, picked and ate fresh plums, mandarins and peaches. We hanged out at the lovely beach that is very close. Overall an fantastic experience.

Vikki was welcoming. She had excellent horsemanship and teaching skills. We love the array of farm animals and the close proximity to the beautiful beach and estuary.

We loved staying at Vikki's place and appreciated her warm welcome and conversations. The "cowshed" was very well equipped with everything we needed. We loved its simplicity and it was an added bonus being given fresh vegetables from her garden for dinner. To experience staying in a rural setting with friendly farm animals so close to lovely beaches made for a real change of lifestyle and a relaxing break. We will recommend this place to those liking something a bit quirky and alternative! Thanks for your hospitality Vikki.....

I honestly don't think Vikki could have done anything more to have made us feel more welcome; she is just wonderful! Her genuine love of people, animals, and especially her horses, shines through in everything she does. I have honestly never experienced anything quite like it and I have been on many a farm. Each creature is given the individual attention and care that they deserve and it showed in the way they related to each other and to us. The horses were a dream to handle and ride, the cows that let us help in their milking stood placid and contented before their calves rejoined them, the ducks and geese wandered around gaggling happily and the sheep just got on with being sheep. A foal was born the day before we arrived and was the first thing we saw as we drove in, what an amazing little creature he was with his wavy tail and spindly legs nuzzling into mum. The accommodation was basic but perfect for us; clean, warm, dry and unique with charming features like the breakfast bar her daughter had milled from a stout trunk of local macrocarpa, and a metal ring in the wall where one of the animals would have been tethered before the conversion of the milking shed. It was a little cold one night so we made a roaring fire and roasted marshmallows before hopping into bed, sweet memories. On our second night we joined Vikki, her daughter and a friend round a campfire for a shared dinner and more marshmallows. I should add that Vikki has an awesome garden filled with shady lanes and pocket vegetable gardens overflowing with produce from which she makes a mean salad. On our last night we joined her and her family and friends in Christening their homemade pizza oven, all the pizzas handmade. Vikki brought a rack of comb honey from her bees and someone else had made a loaf of bread, mmm, heaven on a plate. The riding on the farm, local lanes and beach was truly amazing. My daughter has her own riding school in Cyprus and picked up no end of tips from Vikki. If you want the "true blue NZ rural experience" I don't honestly think you could beat this. We feel incredibly fortunate to have spent these 5 days sharing a slice of her life and will be returning without a doubt.

Had an amazing christmas at Vikki's house. Sat down at the campfire, talked a bit. Vikki prepared us a very delicious mail from her own garden-veggies. We ended up doing the haha on christmasmorning. Had so much fun! Cabin is not 5-star, but clean and has got everything you need.
