Space for three in charming cottage, sea glimpses, close to Penzance. This space includes one double bedroom and one walk-through studio room with private shower room shared between the two rooms. Studio has open-plan staircase not suitable for under-5s. Please remember to give me a little background about you all when you enquire for booking, it really helps to know something about guests in advance, and to be certain the rooms are suitable for you.
This open access studio room is attached to the double bedroom (which is also listed separately as Traditional Granite Cottage by Sea) and allows space for a group of three (or by special arrangement, four) to stay together, sharing the same private shower room. When booking for three, please use this listing, which includes both double room and studio plus bathroom in the same price.
In addition to the double bedroom with kingsize bed, the studio room is suitable for a single adult/child or possibly two children (by arrangement only). It is also ideal for someone looking for a bedroom plus living/sitting/working space for short-term lets (price for stays over a week by arrangement). It comes with desk and chair as well as fold-out studio couch (sofa by day, double bed by night) with a goose-feather topper. Unfortunately the room is not suitable for small children as it has balustrade railings to an open staircase, and free access for my cats.
The rooms are situated in a 300-year-old Grade II listed traditional rustic Cornish granite cottage with many original features including low wood-beamed ceilings, wood-burning stove in a granite hearth. Madron is a small and picturesque village 2 miles from the coast, 1.5 miles from Penzance with its shops and restaurants and approximately 7 miles from St Ives (galleries, beaches), Sennen (beaches) and Land's End (cliffs, various attractions). Behind Madron are the moorlands where tin was traditionally mined - a great place to walk across heathland with ancient standing stones.
Guest will have free street parking and WiFi internet access for the duration of their stay. There is also a small garden you are welcome to sit in, with a table if you want to take breakfast or coffee outside in the sun.
ALLERGY SUFFERERS: please note that this is a very old house with its original plastering and woodwork and may contain spores, pollen and other allergens. There are also two (sometimes 3) resident cats.
ACCESS: The rooms are situated at the top of the house in a converted attic space, up two flights of stairs. I do my best to accommodate other diet, health or access requirements - please ask if there is anything you need to know or would require.

The best place to park is by the church, 100 metres down the road. There is free on-street parking closer for loading/unloading.
Please note that this house belongs to cats as well as humans - it's their home too so you should be prepared to respect instructions for their safety and well-being.
We would like you to feel comfortable, happy and at home here, so please ask if we can help with anything, or if you need anything particular, or if there is any problem. We will do our best to put things right.
No children under 5 as the house - and pets - make this unsuitable. This is a small village and a quiet area. Please be considerate and aware of our neighbours, and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm. This house is also home to our two lovely cats, and it is important to be aware of their safety and wellbeing at all times. Please ask if you don't know how to work something, or if there is anything you need or would like to know, and we will do our best to help.
No smoking in the house, (and it goes without saying, no illegal substances or activities) and no additional guests without permission, booking through Airbnb and appropriate payment.
I have ME (chronic fatigue syndrome) which means I am vulnerable to infections, so please let me know in advance of arriving if you think you may be ill with something infectious, so I can take some precautions! Thank you! :-)
Please check in between 5pm and 9pm on day of arrival. If a later or earlier time is required, this needs to be arranged in advance of booking.
I like to communicate with prospective guests by email/airbnb message before they arrive - this is important to me as in a small house my guests need to feel comfortable with me and my cats, and me with them. I only accept guests who are happy to exchange emails so we can get to know each other a little bit before they arrive.
As guests breakfast in my kitchen we usually have conversations over breakfast. Many interesting tales of travels and origins, plus local information, are shared over coffee and croissants!
Hi, I'm Rebecca.
I'm a former journalist taking a break from the metropolitan fray in my Cornish cottage in a quiet village just outside Penzance. Cat- and book-loving guests welcome!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding the house or rooms, and I'll do my best to answer as soon as I can. Make sure to look at both my listings - the studio and the Traditional Granite Cottage by Sea, so as to get all the photos of the house.
