*Beautiful Bright Room in a snazzy old Portland craftsman, and neighborhood!.. Near parks, golf course, restaurants, pubs, music venue, public transportation, food markets...
Queen Bed, Peaceful. Friendly travelers and transplants Warmly welcome!

Der Wohnraum

*Private, sunny SE corner Queen bedroom in a lovely, soulful,
owner-occupied Craftsman home.
A happy and peaceful feeling place.

If you crave your own mini apartment, I have another listing in the same house, built into the remodeled finished street-level of the place. "Sweet Earthen Suite"- - super affordable for the size...
as well as another private room on the uppermost floor (NW corner) .

Great NE location* near public transit, airport (5min+/-) and major arterials with easy access to many flavorful neighborhoods---great food, music and Portland culture abounds.
As a long time member of international travel organizations, Couchsurfing and Hospitalityclub (search for "Soulvolt" there for more references), your fearless hostess is well-prepared to ensure your stay is enjoyable and will happily play guide/consultant/adviser, schedules permitting, if you wish some local opinion and spice.

ALL walks of folk are welcome to make temporary home here.
Cultural celebration assured.
Come play house in Portland, see if you Love it like we do!?

About the digs:
There's a bathroom minimally shared with me (the tidy owner and occasionally other guests) directly next door to this room.
*There is also an upstairs bathroom with shower and heated floor tiles, shared (again- usually minimally) when the other upper room has a guest booked.
*Plus a pan-stocked shared kitchen, (your food purchases are up to you markets walkable to the east and west!), French Press coffee pot and a Cafe 1 block away!)

*We may have a spare cruiser bike or two to loan you if you desire.
(Just lock 'em up right 'n tight to avoid the unmentionable!)

Twin cot available if needed.

~The Neighborhood elaboration:
The Rose City Park neighborhood is a sweet one, adjacent or near to the Beaumont-Wilshire/Fremont Street, Alameda, Hollywood, Alberta Arts and Cully areas.
A clear day stroll a few blocks southeast of this porch brings you to the ridge of city owned Rose City Golf Course and a beautiful view of Mount Hood!

Very comfortable, safe, tasty (walking distance food, pubs, jazz, all convenient! Great neighbors, vibe) neighborhood close enough to all "quadrants" of our fair Rose City to be a handy central point for sampling the nuances of all Portland's flavorful pockets.

Easy Public transportation (tri-met bus) access just a half block away. Hollywood Max station a ten-minute stroll (unless you stop to sample beer from the brew pub en route i.e. Laurelwood Public House, Moon and Sixpence Pub, Gustav's or any of the dozens of restaurants, shops and markets along the way... NE Sandy Blvd, NE Fremont Avenue and NE Alberta Street are replete!).

If you find hotels too sterile, pricy and disconnected from the pulse of the city, then I reckon that's why you're on AirBnB!?
Hostels, though charming and affordable, can be a bit boisterous for mellower grown up sorts. This joint gives you a snapshot of regular ol' life in a stunning nearly hundred year old soulful Portland craftsman, close to more than you'll have time to do if you stay less than a month or two

Come make temporary roost here in mi casa/tu casa.

Portland beckons thee!

I came to Portland for the summer to take a college course, and this place was just what I needed. Leo and William were always friendly and easy to talk to. The studio itself was comfortable and had lots of windows. The house and surrounding neighborhood were both quiet and relaxed. Also great for taking walks!

Leo has been a superb host with her warm and welcoming personality, I've felt right at home since my first night! The room is fantastic and was well represented in the ad. I would recommend any of Leo's rooms offered on airbnb, it's been a lovely time with Leo and I've had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Thumbs up!!

Leo and Will are very warm and welcoming people. They were able to accommodate me even though their house was rather full at the moment. The room is nice and clean and quiet, and the house has been host to other interesting and friendly people.

Leo and William are very wonderful, welcoming people. The neighborhood is perfect-- right near a bus that takes you straight to downtown. The room is very sunny and pleasant and the bed is so comfortable.

Leo was a pleasure to talk to from the very beginning. Traveling with a baby isn't easy, and Leo offered us her larger space to make sure we were all comfortable. We arrived to a warmly lit apartment, with a note describing favorite coffee shops and nearby eateries. There were lots of towels and blankets, and everything was very homey. And the smell of the ripe grapes in the front yard was delicious! I'm pretty sure we will be staying with Leo again next time we visit Portland.

Was promised a private bath and had one for only 2 out 5 nights. Leo was trying to be the best hostess. Was convenient to my daughters which was what we wanted.

Antwort von Leo:
Greetings future guests! Note: The room booked clearly states that it has a shared main floor bathroom. That is still the case. * If there happens to be no other guests on the main floor simultaneous to when you make your booking, however, you might just be able to enjoy it with a bit more exclusivity by chance. Even then, there is never a guarantee that someone visiting the house won't need to use the main floor bathroom briefly. For guests strictly seeking private baths: I have only one listing that has a completely private bathroom and that is the "Portland Soul, Sweet Earthen Suite" listing, and it is a sweet one at that! All people loving people are welcome! * for Beth: we enjoyed meeting and hosting you and Chester for your visit. You are welcome back anytime and I trust you received our $50 gift to you on your second day in town as an olive branch for the misunderstanding that transpired.

Howdy Do!
Big Fan of people here, glad to meet and have at least brief interactions and cerebral interludes with the whole sh'bang and gamut of characters this planet provides. Travel feeds me well. Another way to get that vitamin supplement from life in the times between travelings is to be part of another's adventure in some small way. Hence, my own fondness for travel and the moments of feeling at home in the most remote stretches of the world is what brings me to AirBnB.

I have warm, inviting space to spare, as well as energy and ideas about this pretty city that I dug so much I had to buy a little plot in it for myself and to SHARE with YOU! Portland is beautiful. I hope to make your travel far more enjoyable with a relaxing home base to replenish in between forays into the wild fray!
My darling, trusty, sweetheart William is my able co-host (though not pictured, he's shy...) and a sweet addition to the casa's general goodness!
He is a fine horticulturalist and hobbyist filmmaker..
Also as of May 27, 2015 we have a newborn son who is an awesome component of the tapestry around here. Our resting space is separate from the rest of the house for the most part, but we do share common space daily as well.
I do a little work from the home a couple days a week, but it ought never interfere with your autonomous fun having whilst here. Let me know if I can help you with anything.

I'm an easy-moving, joyful, well-adjusted, silly critter, musician, painter, cook, writerly sort, interested in health and wholeness, Chinese herbal medicine (the eternal study continues!) and Acupuncture. I'm a traveler, an explorer, innate documentarian and story gatherer. I'm handy, oft DIY-style, prefer repurposing and re-using things and building materials in my projects.
I appreciate, to the point of deep reverence, the natural world's offerings and feel compelled to protect it with conscious consumption and recycling etc. I love clever design, architecture and texture in living/ working/ growing spaces as well. Fond of dirt, making food and flora in it.
Plenty to do in the loosely sketched canvas that a new piece of land provides. If it suits your fancy, feel free to join me gardening during your stay. It's always fun to putter about in the yard with folks!

See you soon, with any luck!

PS~ Incase you've wondered: I think I've got a good lead on what the meaning of life is.

Feels about right to me, so I figure we may as well move about the cabin in kindness, gathering recipes, hugs, soul food, stories and songs along the way!
