Everything described is exactly as it is - you are staying in an art project, not a hotel, so it's 5-stars for experience. Slight hiccups: 1 - I didn't look at the map, so it took a few minutes to find the place. The blue glow from within helped a lot. Meaning of this point: use the provided map! 2 - I received the wrong door code, but I received great response for a phone call in the middle of the night. Great! Problem solved! 3 - Yes, there is no shower, but you must be in Beppu for the hot springs, so go shower elsewhere! 4 - Not a hiccup, but YES THERE IS A TOILET (washroom and kitchen facilities). So it's actually much better equipped than expected ^_^ There is a book on-site and website available to better understand the significance of this space.
