Adorable one bedroom apartment in the charismatic small city of Portland, Maine. The Old Port is one mile away, a pleasant walk through Deering Oaks Park where you can take in the thriving Farmer's Market on a Saturday morning; a five minute walk takes you to the 3.5 mile Baxter Blvd walking path, another route into town. Public transportation stops at the end of the street - and will take you straight into the heart of downtown in 10 minutes.
The Portland Jetport is 3.4 miles away, a 10 minute drive (approx $12 by taxi) Beautiful sandy beaches are just 20 minutes away in South Portland and Scarborough. LLBean is an easy 30 minute drive and Boston is 1 1/2 to two hour drive.
The one bedroom apartment is fully furnished and has a recently purchased queen size bed, built in closet, full bathroom, full size futon in the living room, fridge and gas stove/oven, flat screen TV, DVD, CD player, basic cable, Internet with wifi, books, games, off street parking. All linens, towels and pretty much everything you may need is provided...just bring your clothes!
Arrival and departure times very flexible.
This is a two family house. Please be respectful of the upstairs tenant and keep noise to a minimum. The front door should always be locked when you go out - make sure you take a key with you even if you're just stepping out for a moment. This a dog friendly neighborhood, you'll see some of them are off leash, but it's definitely best if you leash yours, and please always pick up after them - there's a small trashcan on the porch for disposal.
In the kitchen, use the garbage disposal lightly - keep water running when it's on and put small amounts of food waste in at a time. No citrus rinds, hard seeds or bulky/hard stems.
Please leave the apartment pretty much as you find it; wash dishes and be sure to take all personal items; linens and towels can be left in the laundry basket. Trash, if you've filled it, can go out in the big can on the porch, (if not full, just leave it). Recycling goes in the blue bin on the porch (paper, plastic, metal, glass) returnables may be left in a box in the kitchen.
No smoking in the house or on the front porch please.
I lived in a few different places before landing in Maine, beginning in New Hampshire, then passing through California and the Caribbean, and staying a long while in New York City, where I learned to drive as the locals do, but also covered many, many miles on foot, and enjoyed being in one of the world's most international cities.
I love to walk and explore beautiful parks, gardens, museums, and to experience life in places very different from my own small corner of the world.
