The spacious living/dining and kitchen area (reverse cycle air conditioner, full size stove, big pantry, dishwasher and fridge), leads onto the deck and commands fantastic views to the West over the sea and North and East over the river and bushland.

An adjoining second living area has a cosy wood stove. Part of this living area can be curtained off to make a third queen bedroom.

The main (queen bed) and second bedroom (1 divan, 2 bunks) open onto the lower living area.

There is one WC and a separate bathroom with shower over a new full-size bath. Entry into the Cottage is via a sheltered sun room which houses the firewood stock and gas barbecue.

The Cottage is fully detached , with a grassy garden between it and Airey Drive.

Guests have access to the entire property, apart from the adjoining garage.

EXPERIENCE- being sandwiched between the rugged West Coast and the Tarkine-
The Arthur River Village is unique for its position on the edge of the Tarkine Forest, right on the rugged West Coast, as it is the only easily accessed Tasmanian West Coast settlement that is right on the shores of the Southern Ocean. It straddles the mouth of the wild and undammed Arthur River, which traverses the Tarkine Forest. Arthur River is a very popular holiday destination for Tasmanians who are in the know.

SEE WILDLIFE all around you-
The Village is surrounded by the extensive Arthur-Pieman Conservation Area, which encompasses the Tarkine Forest and it teems with wildlife. The animals treat the Village as part of their home. Wombats have burrows in many places within the Village and, along with wallabies, are seen frequently. Spotted quolls and Tasmanian devils live within or walk through the village and are most likely to be seen at night.

GREAT FISHING at a little known but excellent destination-
Apart from people living on the North and West Coasts of Tasmania, the Arthur River area is little known for its fishing. It is, in fact, a great destination for the fisherman, as there are trout in the river and good rock and beach fishing.

SURF AND WAVE-SAIL at a Mecca for these sports-
The coast just north of Arthur River is famed for its surf, so that each year there are major national surf and wave-sailing events, which usually centre on Green’s Beach, near Marrawah.

EXPLORE THE COAST around-
The wild coast of sweeping beaches, rocky outcrops and coves on either side of the Arthur River mouth is easily reached on foot from the village. More distant parts of the coastline to both south and north can be accessed at multiple points by road.

BOAT UP THE RIVER into the Tarkine-
The magnificent Tarkine Forest can be visited by taking a boat up the Arthur River from the Village for up to 15km in a tinnie and much further in a canoe. You can bring your own vessel which you can launch into the river from the boat ramp just down the road. No boat? Then hire a boat or canoe in the village from the Boat Hire. If you do not want to be your own skipper, you can catch an Arthur River Cruise on the George Robinson, which runs up the river virtually every day, apart from mid-winter. This characterful boat leaves just across the river from the Lodge and takes you up to their private base in the forest for a barbecue. Book early- ph .

SO MUCH TO SEE in the area around-
There are many other attractions within a 100km radius, including pretty, historic Stanley, with its historic Highfield House, the Nut and its tours to a seal colony; the Tarkine Forest Experience at Dismal Swamp; the huge dairy and wind farm at Woolnorth, right on the top left corner of Tasmania; the Dip Falls Forestry Reserve and the Tarkine Forest Reserves at Julius River, Lake Chisholm, Milkshake Hills and the Wes Baker Falls, now accessible from Arthur River Village by a fully sealed road loop, the Tarkine Drive.

INCLUDE ARTHUR RIVER in your driving loop around Tasmania-
The Western Explorer Road, which turns right off the Tarkine Drive after it has turned inland at Couta Rocks (well sign-posted), is a great way of heading south to the lower Tasmanian west coast and, in due course, to Hobart. This road is predominantly gravel, but is suitable for an ordinary 2 wheel drive car, driven with care, as it is well-maintained. The road first traverses heathland and then forest to reach Corinna, on the Pieman River. Corinna is a charming, historic place on the north bank of the river, with one provider of accommodation and camping, limited food shopping, but a surprisingly large bar and restaurant (see
You can cross the Pieman River on the privately-owned barge (limited hours, 9.00 am to 7.00 pm in summer) to reach Zeehan and other points on the more southern parts of the West Coast and, of course, Hobart. The road south of the Pieman River is all sealed. Make sure you have plenty of fuel in your tank. The first fuel pump is at Zeehan.
The recently upgraded main road that enters Arthur River from the north is well-engineered and sealed. The scenic Western Explorer Road continues south from Arthur River to beautiful, serene and historic Corinna, from where it is easy to reach Strahan and all of Southern Tasmania, so that it is possible to do a loop around much of the Tasmanian coast. The Western Explorer has been mainly dirt, but a significant length of the road that leads south from the Village is newly sealed. The sections of dirt that remain are well-maintained and suitable for an ordinary 2 wheel drive car, driven carefully.

BASE RENTAL INCLUDES-
Two adults and one child. Each additional adult $30 and child $15

CHILD FRIENDLY facilities-
We aim to make the Cottage as child friendly as possible. The relatively large and mainly grassy, but quite steep-banked garden is well fenced and the gate at the entrance to the garden from Airey Street can be closed to stop small children from wandering. A high chair and cot (with linen) are available on request at no extra cost. When small children are among our guests, we advise against using the wood fire because it has surfaces that could cause burns, but the Cottage can be kept warm with the reverse cycle air conditioner. Dishes and eating utensils suitable for small children are provided

PETS ARE WELCOME, but by prior arrangement-
We appreciate how much pleasure people get from bringing their pets on holiday with them, so we welcome these, provided you let us know in advance that you will be bringing one or two (no more than that), they are not permitted to sit on seats or beds, are not washed inside the Cottage, nor allowed to chase the wild life and you agree to pay a fee of $25 per stay to cover additional cleaning.

SAFE, OFF-STREET PARKING is ample-
There is space for parking of up to 3 cars within the garden of the Cottage, but none of this is under cover. It is also possible to park a boat on a trailer within the garden, with just enough space to turn the trailer around in the garden if the boat is no longer than 5 metres. Larger trailers can be driven along the drive into the garden from the street, but would need to be backed out into Airey Drive.

Der Check-in ist nach 14:00.

OUR TARIFF INCLUDES a reasonable amount of cleaning-
However, we do expect that at the end of their stay, guests will leave the Cottage, with no major soiling of floors and other surfaces. All food service items should be cleaned and returned to storage, both from the dishwasher and the draining board.
With our apologies, please note that an additional charge of $40 or $80 will be made for extra cleaning, depending on the amount of extra cleaning required.

SMOKING OUTDOORS only please-
The sun porch and deck are OK for smoking.
