Why stay at the beach where it's overcast and cold every morning? Go inland where you can enjoy all-day sunshine swimming in the pool and later head to the beach after the foggy marine layer has burned off.
We have the perfect vacation home away from home in San Diego. A comfortable place where the kids stay occupied while you sip margaritas poolside.
This gorgeous 2,700 square foot family home is located on the eastern outskirts of the city in the sunny suburban neighborhood of San Carlos. It is conveniently located about 15 minutes from downtown/Zoo/Balboa Park, 20 minutes from beaches/Sea World, 10 minutes from Fashion/Mission Valley, and 5 minutes from great hiking at Mission Trails Regional Park. The house is also walking distance to Lake Murray, which offers a 4-mile paved trail around lake as well as fishing and picnic facilities.
This spacious home is kid friendly with toys and games conveniently stashed everywhere. There are four bedrooms (including 2 masters), three bathrooms, a great room with library and reading area, a living and eating area with hacienda style table that seats 10. The kitchen was remodeled in 2015 and has a peninsula that seats 3 and aside from all the usual kitchen equipment, also has a Pavoni Espresso machine. Yummy capuccinos every morning and you don't even have to leave the house! There is also a high chair available for little ones.
The master suite provides a luxurious Eastern King size bed; and a gorgeous tiled bathroom with an enormous tub to soak in (as well as a separate shower area). The second master bedroom on the north wing of the house has a loft twin bed, an Ikea sofa that folds into full bed and it's own bathroom. This room also can accommodate a raised Queen size air mattress. The Toucan room offers a toddler bed and glider chair under a painted jungle tree with toucans and butterflies overhead. The Train Room contains a twin/full bunk bed. Twin bed & mattress, Pack-n-Play and/or queen air mattress are available on request.
The beautifully landscaped backyard was designed for entertaining (although it's been childproofed a bit). It features a swimming pool with safety fence, a covered patio with eating area, an in/outdoor barbeque, mini-slide/playhouse, and lots of children's scooters, trikes and toys.
There is high speed wireless Internet, family PC, and TV with Roku and Netflix. The TV is also equipped with a DVD player and we have a nice selection of kids movies (and a few adult movies). There is a driveway for parking and also plenty of street parking. Bedding and linens are provided as well as pool and beach towels.
We also have a gray tortoiseshell cat that remains here during your stay - if you're not comfortable caring for the cat we will make arrangements for a neighbor to care for their needs daily.

Respect for neighbors please. Leave house in same condition you found it in. No Smoking in House. No Pets. We have river rock landscaping - so absolutely no throwing rocks (especially not in pool or fountain). Climbing trees is ok, but you are responsible and liable for supervising your children at all times. Children must eat at table or in kitchen only.
Before leaving, please put everything in order as it was when you arrived.
Have a GREAT time.

I'm mother to four active children age 9 and under . we love to hike, ride bikes, hang at the beach and swim. Our favorite hangouts are Lake Murray (fishing, biking, throwing rocks in the lake...), Coronado, La Jolla Shores and Mission Trails Park. Of course we also spend a lot of time at the neighborhood parks and in our backyard swimming pool. I love reading and meet regularly with bookclub friends to discuss books and drink wine.
We love to travel. My in-laws are all in Argentina, we make frequent visits there and do many tours of Southern California when they come to visit here. I also have family all up and down the west coast so we are regulars in the Bay Area/San Francisco and Portland and Bend areas of Oregon.
