National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History

No wonder the British army were so reluctant to pull out of Ireland when they were occupying this magnificent space, the oldest army barracks in Europe. The collection features fashion, furniture, weaponry, folk life, silver, ceramics and glassware in an attempt to offer a birds-eye view of Ireland's social, economic and military history over the last millennium.

Old Jameson Destilary

Smithfield’s biggest draw is devoted to uisce beatha (ish- kuh ba-ha, ‘the water of life’). The whowhatnow? It’s whiskey, which doesn’t quite bestow life, but, if drunk enough, will undoubtedly take it away. Here, in the original home of one of its most famous and renowned distillers, you can get an introduction to the history and culture of this most potent of drinks.

St. Stephen’s Green

As you watch the assorted groups of friends, lovers and individuals playing themselves across the nine elegantly landscaped hectares of St Stephen's Green, consider that those same hectares once formed a common for public whippings, burnings and hangings. These days, the harshest treatment you'll get is the warden chucking you off the green for playing football or Frisbee.

St Patrick Cathedral

It was at this cathedral, reputedly, that St Paddy himself dunked the Irish heathens into the waters of a well, so the church that bears his name stands on one of the earliest Christian sites in the city and a pretty sacred piece of turf.

A large, long-running repository for contemporary, innovative Irish crafts, including multicoloured, modern Irish knits, designer clothing, Orla Kiely bags and lovely silver jewellery. The glassware and pottery is beautiful and sourced from workshops around the country. A great source for presents.

(URL HIDDEN)Temple bar

The most photographed pub facade in Dublin, perhaps the world, the Temple Bar (aka Flannery's) is smack bang in the middle of the tourist precinct and is usually chock-a-block with visitors. It's good craic though, and presses all the right buttons, with traditional musicians, a buzzy atmosphere and even a beer garden. It's also one of the most expensive pubs in Dublin.

(URL HIDDEN) Porterhouse

The second-biggest brewery in Dublin, the Porterhouse looks like a cross between a Wild West bar and a Hieronymus Bosch painting – all wood and full of staircases. We love it, and although it inevitably gets crowded, this pub on the fringe of Temple Bar is for the discerning drinker and has lots of its own delicious brews, including its Plain Porter (some say it's the best stout in town) as well as unfamiliar imported beers.

(URL HIDDEN)Lost Society

Part of the magnificent 18th-century Powerscourt complex, Lost Society offers two distinct nightlife experiences for the price of one ticket. Upstairs, spread across three levels and a host of rooms, the music is eclectic and the crowd beautifully self-aware. Downstairs is the Bassment, where the music is thumping and the dancing is hot and sweaty.

Interaktion mit Gästen

If I have time I will go around the city with my AirBnb friends. We can get a pint in some Irish pub or go in some night club. You can contact me and ask whatever you are interested in. I'm available almost all the time (except I'm working) Everything can be arranged just let me know on time.

Good stay and nice hosts. The real value is not the place itself (not worth the money we paid) but the location since you'll be right in the centre.
