My home in Southshore, Christchurch, is named Waiatarua , the Maori word for Song of two Waters.
Waiata is song and Rua is two. Wai is water.
It is aptly named because it sits on a Spit, between the Avon Estuary a wetland bird sanctuary and the Pacific Ocean. The song of the ocean is constantly in the background.
I offer a double room with a queen sized bed and semi ensuite i.e ( a shower and handbasin), Two separate WC's, one upstairs and one down.
The Continental Breakfast is self service, cereals, toast, fruit, juice.Cook some eggs if you wish. Tea and coffee are available anytime.
The two sunny living areas and kitchen are upstairs Downstairs are four bedrooms and a small lounge which opens out to a sunny courtyard/bbq area.
Outside you have a choice of private sitting areas ,on the upstairs and downstairs decks ,or in the garden and paved bbq area.
Buses run regularly into the city from across the road ,a ride which takes 30-40 mins. The drive from the airport by car takes 20-35 mins and I am happy to do drop offs or pick ups for NZ$40 plus whatever airport parking charges are accrued.
Off street and On street parking options.
Locally there are plenty of lovely walks to enjoy. I also have a small kayak available. The nearest suburban town centre New Brighton ,10 mins away by bus, has an outdoor seaside Mall with supermarket ,banks ,restaurants etc and the best library in Christchurch with comfortable seating overlooking the sea and Pier.
