The apartment is right on the ocean, where you may see the huge lava beds when the sea is out, or hear the birds playing out around the brick structure (a dock?) further out. The town is small, quiet, but has an amazing restaurant several blocks from the apartment. There is a "Troll Museum" down the road, and the airport is only 1.5 hours away. Going east along highway 1, there are many things to see. Vik is incredible, along with the Iceberg Lagoon in Jokulsarlon. Very clean apartment with everything you need in the kitchen, along with a beautiful bathroom, bedroom, and living area.

Lovely and comfy apartments in a small town not so far from beautiful waterfalls and hot springs.

Jessi’s apartment is large and one of the best equipped ever. For example, there’s a coffee machine, a dishwasher, a massage chair, a smart TV … and so on. It’s even possibly to do laundry at the hostel next door. There’s a double bed in the bedroom and a small single bed in the living room. The sofa will also flatten out to a double bed. The west-facing windows look out over the ocean, giving a lovely view. If you want bright lights and riotous nightlife, Eyrarbakki is not for you. Eyrarbakki is now a quiet village (although 100 years ago it was a thriving fishing port). There’s a gas station (with a small grocery store), a great restaurant and a pair of interesting museums. But for major shopping, go to Netto or Bonus in Selfoss (10km away). But it’s a great location to get away from it all. We used it as a destination after the “Golden Circle”, a relief from the madness of the crowds and the tour buses. (It was less than 2 hours to drive from Gullfoss to Eyrarbakki.) We spent the evening walking along the coastline, watching the waves and the sea birds. We spent the next afternoon swimming at the public pool in Selfoss. You can get to Eyrarbakki by bus (the No. 75 from Selfoss). But most people will come by car. There is ample free parking right outside the entrance to the apartment. We highly recommend Jessi’s apartment as a great place to stay and relax.

Great space, cute town! Only wish the wifi worked better as that was the only source we had to research our next route. Otherwise, fantastic!!

The appartment is the extension of a Hostel complex in Eyrarbakki. We found the place to be very clean, spacious, quiet, and full of light. Of course we also enjoyed the sea view very much. The reception at the hostel is very helpful and responsive, which made our stay easier. Eyrarbakki is an interesting place to stay if you just finished to Golden Circle and plan to go East next, or if you're coming back from the East side of the Island toward Reykjavik.

Jessi is a great host! Because of weather we needed to arrive one day early and she accommodated us with open arms. The apartment is nice, but not fancy. Basic accommodations with a fully stocked kitchen for cooking. Easy to find and a breeze for check in. Our favorite part was the beautiful ocean views from the room. We definitely recommend this place!

My wife and I had a fantastic 7 day stay here. Jessi and Johann were excellent hosts who were very helpful and gave lots of good advice. Accommodation had everything you needed for self catering Kitchen, lounge, bathroom all very well equipped with everything you need. The Smart TV provided access to the internet, weather channels and movies. Sea views from all windows and plenty of parking with access to a little shop next door at the fuel station. The apartment was ideally located in a small quiet village 10 mins from Selfoss. 45 mins from Blue Lagoon, Reykjavik, and golden circle. With easy access to Vik and beyond up to Iceberg lagoon. Highly recommended.

I'm an American living in Iceland. Together with my husband Jóhann (who's Icelandic), we own and manage the local restaurant Rauða Húsið (The Red House) and Hafið Bláa (The Blue Sea).

Our apartments are located in the old fish factory in the heart of Eyrarbakki, right on the seaside. This large building was abandoned for many years after the harbor closed and the fishing industry shut down. Piece by piece, we are turning it into apartments for guests. It's perhaps not your typical Airbnb, because the apartments are purpose-built as guest accommodation—but it's a tiny village and we would like to invite more visitors to come and stay without taking family homes off the market. A small part of the building has a 36-bed hostel, and that's where we will meet you with the keys.

My husband and I are both avid travelers, having living in Thailand, Mexico, and Honduras before moving to Iceland. We love Iceland and our little village, and we're happy to share it with you! If you're looking for travel advice or a local perspective, don't hesitate to send me a message or ask when you get here.
