First, please check about availability before you try to book; and, don't forget to check the other listing(s):
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6141820

This space is a huge, private suite, on the 2nd floor of a beautiful & well furnished 5 BR 4 BA home, on 10 very private acres, bordered on one side by 1/2 mile of frontage on Bayou Bourbeau, a tributary of Bayou Teche, yet only 16 miles north of Downtown Lafayette, LA. There are about 1250 Square Feet of covered porches, and a separate large round deck anchored by a massive, wood-fired, old world pizza and bread oven, with granite counters in which I can make pizza and cut and serve the pies that cook in less than 180 seconds...

This space is a large, upstairs bedroom suite, with a view off of your private balcony on the second floor, down to and across the bayou and the woods and fields beyond. It's over 500 SF with a king bed with a private bathroom that includes a shower and a 2-sink vanity. The bedroom is furnished with two occasional chairs and a small leather sofa, an antique roll-top desk, and a private closet for your use.

The entire house is also potentially available by special arrangement, with or without catered meals, and can potentially sleep 12, plus another 6 on queen air mattresses that can be placed on the floor of the bedrooms upstairs. If you are potentially interested in the entire house, check ahead, because we live near the "Happiest City" in the United States - that is, Lafayette, Louisiana (for folks who haven't seen this famous study.) If this place is not available, and you need a recommendation of a place nearby, I have some great friends who are very close that I'd love to connect you with.

Zugang für Gäste

You'll be at the epicenter of Cajun and Creole culture, minutes away from the "Prairie Parishes" to the west, and the Atchafalaya Basin and the mighty Mississippi River and beyond, to the east. Dancing, music, nature, biking, antique shopping, birding, excellent dining, art and crafts, a great little theatre and one-of-a-kind cultural events including annual festivals for every thing you can imagine, not to mention the culturally authentic celebration of Mardi Gras, the Courir de Mardi Gras.

While here, guests can explore the property on nature walks, and are welcomed to use the outside decks, as well as the large downstairs living room. The washer and dryer are also available if needed, as is the kitchen.

Private chef, catered, gourmet meals, made just for you, are sometimes available by special request, for a small extra charge. Please inquire about details at booking if interested, and allow at least one week advance notice.

My guests are all fellow AIRBNB members - and most are independent. I welcome them into my home, and strive to make their stay and local experience memorable, comfortable, and FUN!. I respect their privacy, and expect them to respect mine, but I love to share the adventurous lives that are found here in SWLA.

I have created a very unique, one-of-a-kind gem, nestled in an environment that spurs creative thinking, artistic inspiration, relaxation, quiet reflection and meaningful conversation.... - OR- they can hear local storytelling, dine on world-class food & enjoy libations, music, dancing, laughing, let-your-hair-down type of celebrating...

So, it all depends what guests want., with as much or as little as they desire.... Some guests want to be left alone to do their own thing, while others want more guidance, and like to hear about things to do, places to see, and great food to eat. Sometimes my schedule is laid back and other times I must travel during the day and so it all depends. Guests who need more than usual... whether they want the entire place to themselves, or will need ideas, suggestions, or catered meals.... will need to check with me during booking to see what's possible during the time they will be staying here.

We had a great time staying with Bill at his charming house. He's a welcoming host and a fantastic cook. You will not be disappointed!

Staying at Bill's place in the Bayou has become our go to vacation for over a year. Bill's cooking is delicious and it's the best food that you'll find in town, hands down. His menu offers everything you can imagine, from steak and ribs to whole fish, lobster and crawfish, from fresh-shucked oysters to shrimp to scallops... he offers it all! Our golden retriever loves playing with Bill's small pups and could spend hours roaming the acres of beautiful fields. We recommend this place to everyone and can promise you'll love your stay and will start bringing and inviting your friends. The room is very spacious, well-kept, and comfortable. Picking from Bill's menu is our favorite activity during our stays, but if you're looking to be more active you can go canoeing/kayaking or hiking around his neighborhood. The local brewery, LA31, often has love music with seasonal variations available in tap. Pro-tip: Ask Bill to connect you with some dance class options -he'll share them with you if they're available. BOTTOM LINE: you can't find this experience in a brochure or travel guide!

I found Bill to be nothing short of a great host who made me feel welcome throughout the two days I stayed at his lovely home. The house is built on 10 wooded acres that are every bit as welcoming as Bill. For those of us who like to, or need to commune with nature, the abundance of trees and thick stands of large bamboo that you'll see on either side of the long driveway suggest that you've happened upon an exotic destination. Then once through the home's front door, you will delight at Bill's good taste, and your good fortune that he's shared his rather exotic interior space with you, too.

Perfect in every way. Bill greeted us with the most delicious homemade meal of ribs, baked beans and his mom's famous Mac and cheese. The house is gorgeous and serene. We will be back!!

We had an excellent stay at Bill's place! We highly, highly recommend it and we WILL be back. Southern hospitality is an understatement. We brought food with the intention of cooking and Bill did it all himself! If you bring food, and he offers to cook, let him! We feasted the whole weekend: steaks, salmon, fried rice, beans and rice, omelets. Bill's a ton of fun to talk to and hang out with. He is full of great stories and he helped us find fun things to do around town. Our highlights include Cafe Des Amis, the LA-31 Brewery, and kayaking via the Bayou Teche Experience. The house itself is an experience, too. It's like a museum on the inside - ask him for a quick tour of the mask collection and his other artwork. Our room was very tidy and comfortable. It's got tall ceilings, a modern, clean, functional bathroom and a nice porch overlooking the bayou. Two people will find that they have more than plenty of space. Lastly, Bill's dogs are a fun bunch and make excellent playmates. We can't recommend Bill and his place enough!

Bill and his place are lots of fun and full of character. They really made our trip to cajun country a total blast. The room was incredibly quiet and comfortable and the property is serene and secluded. We're big dog lovers, so we also enjoyed spending time with Bill's small, affectionate dogs. Bill also gave us pointers about where to go that were exactly what we were looking for. Would definitely recommend Bill's place for friendly travelers who want to really experience this fascinating part of the country.

I don't get to travel as much as I’d like, but when I do, I like to either stay right smack in the middle of the heartbeat of the big cities, or way out in the country, close to the edge of wide-open areas or near the edge of the wilderness. But, in either spot, I always want t…
