This is our beach retreat - and we love it.

Blending new with old, we recently renovated the inside of this island 'shack'. You will find polished concrete floors, crisp white walls and ceilings, creative lighting and funky floor coverings through out.

The L shaped living space features a large open fire place (wood supplied), an open plan fully equipped kitchen with Belfast sink, English tap fittings and a gas AGA oven. The dining area comfortably seats 8.

A book case sits beside the open fire with a selection of fiction and non fiction titles.

The 'L' section of the room has a day bed, for snoozing or watching one of the many DVD's. One of the couches can fold out into a (semi comfortable) double bed for unexpected guests.

In winter, pump up the fire... On warmer days open up the long sliding panel doors to the deck and create a seamless inside / outside space. Then dine alfresco on the deck, pump up the BBQ - or toast marshmallows over the fire-pit.

We have a beautiful bathroom, with hand screened Italian tiles, a vintage silver backed cut mirror, original bath, vanity and fittings rescued from a local hospital and 1930's hand crafted wall lights (rewired - re-enameled, re-imagined).

There are two bedrooms, both with double doors opening out to a small private wilderness. The larger has a king size bed and a fold out for a child, the smaller a double bed with another fold out single.\\

We have a separate laundry with washing machine and dryer.

You will have access to the whole property.

Part of the beauty of this space is the quiet privacy this part of the island affords - so unless there is an issue that needs resolving, we prefer to leave you to enjoy your time with yourselves.

The retreat situated at the top end of Cape Woolamai, on the edge of the National Park is one of the quietest places on the island. The roads are still unpaved, and there are no street lights.

At night you look to the stars, During the day, turn left and it is a 200metre walk to the quiet - family friendly heads beach - safe for kids - and boasting one of the largest sand dunes on the Victorian coast - great for climbing and sliding down on your boogie board. Turn right and it is 400metres to the wild Woolamai front surf beach - one of the most beautiful in the world - where the ocean meets you head on.

Fish and Chips

Outside private transport there is a bus service that runs from Melbourne or Dandenong. The local Cape Woolamai stop is a reasonable walking distance to the house. Alternatively, you can catch the ferry from Stony Point to Cowes.

Hi! - My wife Cath, and I, a designer are frequent travelers and have had the privilege of staying in a number of AirBNB houses, apartments and rooms abroad. We enjoy meeting new people from all over and have an open table at our place.

Surrounded by family, friends, art and books our homes reflect a random eclectic taste in old and new things blended with our own sense of style.

We look forward to hosting you.
