We have a two bedroomed (one guest bedroom) cottage in West Berkshire in a picturesque village called Kintbury. The house is full of character with some low ceilings and wooden beams. There is a pretty cottage garden that can be enjoyed in the sunshine. The double bedroom is comfortable with a flat screen televison with freeview. The room is not big enough for a baby/child and due to there being steep stairs to the bedroom not suitable for the elderly. There is a woodburner for extra warmth when cold, but full central heating is in every room. The bathroom is stylish with a clawfoot bath and a modern separate digital shower. We have wireless internet and a timid cat and friendly young dog.
There is an award winning butcher in the village and freshly baked bread and pastries from the bakery on Saturdays and Wednesdays. There are two welcoming pubs. Kintbury train station is a 5 minute walk away with trains to the market towns of Newbury and Hungerford in less than 10 minutes, to Reading in 30 minutes and reaches London Paddington in about 1 hour. Bath is only a 1 hour 10 minute drive away as is Salisbury and Oxford. The cottage is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are idyllic walks minutes from the front door, along the canal and river, and more walks a short drive away in places like Combe Gibbet which is the highest point in South East England, as well as stately homes such as Highclere Castle where Downton Abbey was filmed. The opening times though will need to be checked.Marlborough is a 20 minute drive away with its historic high street and famous Jazz FestivalMy husband and I would give you a warm welcome and enjoy the opportunity to recommend local walks and places to visit.

We work around our guests needs, so if they would like our company or prefer to be left alone.
We're very friendly and we love our cat and our dog! We're a professional couple working in education, dance and music and we're enjoying living in the countryside. We can both speak a bit of French and have visited most areas in France over the years as well as fallen in love with Cornwall.
