TRANSLATION FROM GERMAN: "Starling's Rest is a wonderful, charming old house -- furnished with great attention to detail. Our check-in was simple and [off-street] parking was provided. Paul is an attentive host, and makes you feel welcome . . . as a member of the household, even . . . so you have the desire to kick off your shoes during the evening’s Silent Film Screening and put your feet up. We stayed in the Willow Suite (which includes a private ensuite bathroom). The suite was very tastefully decorated, and the bed was large and very comfortable. The suite is located not far from the breakfast area, so you could hear guests in there during breakfast, but the other guests were considerate and we didn’t feel disturbed. The air conditioning [is centrally controlled, services the entire first floor, and is not individually adjustable for the room], but the setting was fine and the sound relatively quiet. The house/neighborhood is very quiet and is situated just a few steps to the panoramic [Bluff Path] along the Mississippi River, from where you can watch a magnificent sunset and stroll to several restaurants. We felt very safe and, after dinner, followed the Bluff Path back to the B&B. Breakfast is a serve-yourself affair, somewhat unusual for a B & B, but functional, and there was really everything you could wish for: various breads, cornflakes and other cereals, grits and a variety of oatmeals, a variety of Greek yogurts, jams, [bagels, English muffins,] cream cheese, peanut butter, juices, and milk, various teas . . . and even Starbucks coffees!! Paul even also offers a short [fifteen-minute] lecture on the history of Natchez, which should not be missed. You should pursue a variety of Paul's [Natchez sightseeing] recommendations and discover all the marvelous antebellum offerings/tours in Natchez. CONCLUSION: A beautiful B&B at a reasonable price, perfect for those who would like to stay in a historic house, but do not wish to pay what would otherwise be significantly higher overnight rates [than Starling’s Rest charges]."
