I usually prefer longer-term tenants, semester or year-long students, but it's not set in stone. Special offers sent to prospective long-term individuals.
Building is one of the last historic buildings on Bowery. A three-story building that once housed the premier restaurant of NYC in the 1860's-80s. Many unusual architectural details from that time are still within the space.
STUDENTS: Can accept suitcases and gear on the weekend before your booking. Contact for semester pricing.
I usually rent this room for one but it can sleep two (higher price for two). The room measures 13' x 11' x 11' high ceiling. The loft is the second floor of what was once a premier 24/7 restaurant in the heart of the then-entertainment district of NYC in the post-civil war era in NYC. Antique patterned metal ceiling (fire code from the 1880s, and antique Lycresta walls (poured and patterned plaster-1860s). The room has a king-sized loft bed with a queen-sized futon mattress. Share kitchen, bath, LR, DR, and in summer, a large outdoor space with garden. The hotel construction beyond the garden area is now complete. Trees are beyond the wall were planted last autumn.
I am usually friendly, outgoing and helpful. I have been hosting visitors for many decades, and am happy to suggest great spots to visit, restaurants to try (there are so many!) If you prefer, I am happy to leave you as much privacy as you would like.
We are close to so many spots in downtown; Chinatown, Little Italy (what's left), East Village, West Village, SoHo, and Financial District--all are in walking distance.
The loft is near the F, B, D, 6, J, M, Z, N, R trains, the M103 bus, the M15 bus, M21 bus. Citibikes available in the park @ Stanton Street; also on the corner of Mott and Prince Sts. Great for city exploring. Williamsburg Bridge (bike-able, walkable) gets you to hot spots in the BK in no time! There is no parking within or in front of the building, but there are several parking lots within one block's distance--in several directions. The loft is owner-occupied by a long-time artist, and a young student intern.
Zugang für Gäste
Guest is welcome to use LR, DR, Kitchen, bath and outside terrace, both for yourself and limited guests. If you choose to cook or prepare food, please clean up after yourselves. We request that the kitchen closes for cooking by 10pm, and that outside is for use no later than 12am (except for smoking), so as not to disturb others at the loft, and our immediate neighbors. If circumstances require me to alter that rule, ask if need be.
Interaktion mit Gästen
Usually, I can be as available as you might need. If you value your privacy, I will accommodate your needs to the best of my abilities. I am more than happy to offer a walking tour (for a modest gratuity), make recommendations, regale you with historical notes about the area. It's up to you!
Weitere wichtige Infos
I've been living in the loft since 1976, when it was chiefly my painting and art-production studio. These days I travel to a remote studio a few days a week, and occupy a small space of the loft in the back corner. A young traveler intern occupies the other bedroom. We are quiet, and both of us keep a low profile.
If you use the kitchen, please clean up after yourselves. Smoking outside on terrace; we ask that you be considerate of others; we will do the same.
Conduct yourselves quietly, don't slam doors, or carry on loud conversations while on cell or outside. Be friendly, be courteous; we shall do the same.
Graphic Artist and Designer, a part-time Pine Hillian, alternating between NYC and upstate. I have been working on the Pine HIll place for years, restoring a building that had suffered from decades of neglect. All the interiors have been restored where possible, or redesigned for today's living; plumbing, electrical and interiors are new or replaced. Generally, furniture is not! Currently only the studio is available but more is on the way!
I usually like to meet my guests, though it's not always necessary or possible. I like to know that they are happy with the place and that they have everything they need for a comfortable stay. Always ready to answer questions and solve problems, regardless of location.
